WT has no heavy fog. Just rain and clouds.
Airfield spawn is inferior to airspawn.

They do have fog just very rare only happen once Top tier spawning at airfield is safer then spawning at the sky Low tier is fine staying in the sky.
Doesnt necessarily mean CAS cant be provided. IRL rocket attacks were conducted by Harriers in way worse conditions than you will ever see in-game.
Things like TV seekers not working is a small negative. Especially given how bad the PGMs are in anything other than a full downtier.
Does it even have that much in the MM?
I can count on 1 hand the number of matches i’ve had within recent memory that wasnt mid-day and somewhere between no cloud and light cloud.
and I dont think I recall anything worse than medium cloud coverage in GRB bar the few weeks we actually had fog in the MM
Gaijin barely uses their weather or ToD systems.
I’ve seen complete cloud coverage a few times, ironically always on desert maps like sinai
This is basically the default far spawn for helicopters, except it is even worse in terms of usefulness, varies depending on weather (so you will forget about it occasionally and suffer the airfield spawn), and in Air mode as well. Just another annoying mechanic. Heavy bombers and strike aircraft spawning on airfield, basically randomly unless you notice, is completely undefendable.
The only people who support weather based spawns are those blindsided by their arbitrary hate for CAS. The vocal minority. In contrast, 70% of people here oppose this mechanic.
i.e. people complain that they have to spend 10 seconds to reach the map when there is bad weather (rare occasions) wow
If i ever spawn TB-3 bomber and it gets spawned in airfield, i am leaving the battle.
Just make it as it was before patch.
It doesn’t force airfield spawn, it defaults to airfield spawn which is just annoying.
"IRL, no aircraft spontaneously show up in the air. "
sure but airfield can be 5km from the battle, for both “teams”, realism 9000
The shear stupidity on this forum is astonishing.
no one needs this idiotic feature. No one asked for it.
Planes get airspawn in ground RB , thats how it goes.
If anything, airspawn is probably the more realistic option of the 2. I consider it “simulating” an aircraft entering the air space that took off from somewhere else, maybe 100km away. Maybe even a lot further,
Sure for max realism the air spawn point should be at the maps edge, but the same could be said for tanks just “spontaneously appearing”
“Because I get to have more control over my altitude and approach vectors”
No you dont, what a load of bullcrap.
You are taking off super slow from a fixed ground point.
You have way more control spawning at high altitude with speed, you can drop to the deck quickly, fly around and approach from where you want.
You must be trolling.
“approach vectors” LMAO
This desperately needs fixing, yes.
At least 15 km for props. More for jets.
15 km is very short even still, but somewhat plausible in eastern front conditions (moscow, stalingrad) if we include scrambles.
“But 15 km is very far!” it is not.
It’s like 3 minutes of flight IF you are climbing at 300 km/h IAS which every plane above 3.0 can do easily. Even most sub 3.0 can do it, but not every so I am playing it safe with my cutoff. You’ll arrive at 1.5-2.5 km over the battlefield which is ideal for dive bombing depending on how much ordnance you got for your climb rate (F4U-4 can do it even with current 8 km airfield distances.)
Imagine dogfighting, keeping up SA to the best of your ability and then a plane manifests near you out of nowhere. Sounds fun, right? Nope.
If you’re dogfighting at enemy airspawn that’s kinda your fault.
You kinda need a lot of space to dogfight in some planes which ends up bringing you into enemy airspawn.
8x8 km gridsquares often end up with me getting outside of their boundaries when I dogfight, and GRB ground battle is much smaller than that.
I don’t hate CAS, yet I support it. In fact I welcome them since I love using SPAAs. Should use “most people”, not “only people”.
Not only that, but they will also airspawn with a significant energy advantage since they materialize at 2km for most prop tiers. At low-ish tiers it’s ‘just’ 1km but planes also climb much worse.
If you want to both not get shot at by random SPAAs AND try to intercept the enemy before they bomb half your team, you have very little room to play with.
I love getting flagged by CAS players because i said starting on the ground in ground sounds alright
