Remove roundel and insignia country limits in-game.

+1, but only if theres an option to hide other players non nation specific camos, like how we can hide non historical camos, the last thing we need is players disguising as other nations, especially in sim

Well as I also said I’m entirely for removing the restriction. There’s little point to it in air sim cause as you say everybody has the same bloody planes and the nations can be set up however you want. Ground is a bit more restrictive on the vehicles you can bring against eachother and it’s generally easier to ID by colours and camos so there’s not much need for it there.
It’d probably be fairly easy to just remove restriction from all the air roundels which is really the point of this suggestion.

I can see your point there but I do play ground SB occationally. In SB where factions share multiple vehicles with adversary, let’s say WWII Italy and cold war China, do rely on the roundels and insignias for identity. As a matter of fact, to play said vehicles, I have to place multiple IFF marks on all aspects of the chassis and turret to effectively reduce the chance of getting team killed. If player were given ability to place hostile roundels and insignias, it would simply ruin both sides’ experience. I don’t play air SB either but I can see the similar problem here.

Unless Gaijin implements a system that seperates AB/RB decorations and SB decorations, I wouldn’t support this change.

Yes, but only if there is an option to not see ahistorical roundels applied by others in-game, like with camos.

+1. I want to customize my french shermans according to reality and it’s so frustrating I can’t put the white star on them.

Meanwhile you can put the star on British vehicles without an issue, and I agree to that, but it’s not fair, since France was also an allied country and definitely used it.

(I also want my East German T-55 and Shilka guh).

I would love to blow some new life into this post. I tried to make a post myself before finding this. If we can get players whose favorite roundel is blocked (and others too ofcourse) to vote in favor and come up with possible solutions to fix the issue of abusing roundels for misidentification in Simulator Battles I believe this would be a very welcome change.

Solutions concerned I was thinking the same thing you added to your post. It wouldn’t be that difficult to have the option to hide roundels and insignias in general. It might be a bit more difficult to make it so it is only applied when people are playing Simulator Battles but it is well worth a try.

As I mentioned in the post, the option is already in the game, as shown in the screenshot I added.
At this point, I imagine it’s just waiting for Gajin devs to look and see that they have already made the restriction on decals redundant, and get around to the changes proposed in this post.

Vehicle disguising is a problem that affects a very small minority of players (less than 1% of all war thunder players engage in ground sim, which has 0 friendly or enemy markers, while air sim does show markers when one gets close enough to see enemy roundels anyway)
In Air+ ground rb and ab, u can easily tell a enemy.
If this is the problem prohibiting the addition, then do not show the offending decals on the user vehicle if they play a sim match, already done with the setting when a user disables fictional decals for other vehicles.

Lucky me i am from a non faction country , Greece 😅👌

As long as it still applies for sim +1, I wanna slap the RAF roundel on all my axis and soviet aircraft

LET ME USE US EMBLEMS ON LEND-LEASE VEHICLES, please.

It’s a stupid restriction. There aren’t many players who understand the decals of all countries. I just want to use all available decals in the game.

+1

A solution would be to limit what decals are used in Sim. Or adding a deception variant of the decal for lend lease or captured vehicles that looks like the said allied decal/insignia but if you look more closely you will be able to tell due to intentionally obvious notes->sloppy painting of it.

It doesn’t take many to make it so we can’t have nice things.

It’s a bigger issue with simulator Ground that Air imo.

I wanna put British roundrels on my German wellington

Fair

No. Infact they should do the opposite and make them even more restricting. Mostly talking about the premium flag decals. Or then add a third option for people who don’t care for any authenticity, whose decals wont show to others. You could also just make a custom skin. It’s easy.

Not sure I follow the positive votes when this rips more of the game’s identity. It’s already bad enough with the anime decals on ww2 tanks and the other stuff. When you play with France you expect to play with French and not Leclercs plastered with Russian flag decals.

It would be a better suggestion to allow total customization of what you want to see.

You can turn off the decals on other vehicles.
I’ve always liked characters like this, they don’t like something so they demand to limit everyone else.

IT would be awasome to have a Balkenkreuz in some of my Italian tanks, to represent historical configurations. Since in Sim it’s already on Axis side, why isn’t it allowed?
