Yep - you don’t see any F-14’s sharing the airspace, do you!!
Or just make an Air Superiority mode… The tools exist, the maps exist.
We’ve played Air Superiority/Dogfight mode back when they gave us WW mode event.
And you had more than one spawns as well. Someone can say keep it one spawn… ok, faster games etc.
The point is they have the tools , they don’t want it.
Because just taking out GTs of ARB isn’t an option and won’t work for 2 things.
1.Stock grind. Imagine having to stock grind FG.1/ FGR.2 with 2x9Ds at 12.0 and no chaffs etc. Skyflash is t4 mod, before that you can’t even consider the plane as 12.0 anyway (even a bad 12.0).
2.Then they will have to stop strike planes and bombers from joining … Planes like F-15E can be consider multi-role and just change the title.
But , now imagine the GRB player that needs a CAS plane…he will have to dogfight his way to CAS planes. If you stop planes from GRB at the same time , strike planes and bombers become just RP roadblocks aka just take them out of the game. And it won’t happen…
I dont have anything against defyn. I like his videos and he flies well.
That being said how the hell does it matter what defyn said?
Was he elected in democratic process involving entiriety of playerbase?
Does he hold some official position in the warthunder goverment?
Does he own Gaijin entertainment?
No?
Then his voice has the same weight like voice of everyone on this forum.
Attackers and Bombers with no reason to be played already:
I was waiting for the “FiGhTEr SupReMacIsT” guys to show up and like clockwork here they come!
And regarding “Fighter Heaven”, do you mean, like, ARB as a whole?
I dont mind ground targets and ticket bleed, I do mind games being too short and being unable to clutch matches because youve got 5 min left on the timer and 3 guys spread accross the map and little time to reach all 3 in time.
Gaijin trying to please everybody only ends up frustrating everybody, you have to make choices even if a loud (very loud) minority moans about it later on.
He has a point. I used to be the guy which bombs in every plane because i couldn’t be bothered to learn the mode.
At some point when i bought the British F4 i decided to learn the game and have a lot more “fun” and success (as much fun as you can have in ARB…).
Even though i despise this mode.
lol, some people worship at the alter of content creators. Quite sad.
We all know that DollarPlays is the only one that matters.
(Edit: People are so serious, it’s a joke obviously. DollarPlays doesn’t care about air battles).
The main objective of air battles in NOT to kill all the enemy aircraft
was the blinding contradiction in this post supposed to be a joke or did you genuinely type that without reading it out loud?
As a dedicated air to air guy, this idea takes away a fundamental aspect of air RB. There’s more than just fighter aircraft in the game for a reason. Even before ground RB. The simple fact is that many players enjoy killing ground targets
Except for all those BP tasks that have to be completed with them anyway…
I like that there is varied game play to be had in ARB.
I don’t like playing bombers - boring as hell, near zero engagement… I am clearly not the target for that, I don’t see the appeal. However, for a class that by design has relatively little player interaction, they’re not bad at all. They can be spotted and engaged. They can defend themselves. I’ve only seen a bomber clutch a match once or twice - bombing the main AFLD/base is pretty rare. Compared to some other games I’ve played, the implementation is pretty good.
The main problem with Bombers/Attackers doesn’t have anything to do with Bombers/Attackers. In my opinion, it’s Base/AFLD AA. A team/bomber that wins by bombing the base? Feels fair. A team that wins by slaying EVERYTHING? Feels fair (if frustrating at times). A team that wins because a player camps invulnerably within their AFLD AA bubble? That feels like shit every time.
I know we have a whole thread on it. It’s a shit mechanic, particularly in the late game - when you’ve worked with one or two other teammates (or maybe alone) to claw back a match… only to realize you’ve been denied the ability to interact with the other team’s players and they get an automatic win for flying in a circle.
If you try to point out why this mechanic teaches terrible habits, promotes sterile tactics and comforts bad players while preventing them from learning from their mistakes, you will get a mountain of replies from people parroting the same 3 argument over and over again, decrying you as a “Fighter jock” (lol) or a “Fighter Supremacist” (lmao) without adressing the actual flaws of AF AA in lower tiers.
AF AA is only a problem below 9.0 in my experience, usually if a little twerp decides to camp instead of taking the L, landing and Jing out i just hug the ground and shoot him down and usually make it before the Rolands reach me. I’m sure the same people I’m mocking will soon request Gaijin to replace Rolands with IRIS-T though…
We players are incentive seeking and, regardless of the game, rarely work well in teams. I can understand how that makes things tough for planes and pilots that rely heavily on team play.
That said, Air RB is supposed to be a PvP game mode. Striking ground targets for points/tickets is a part of it. Aerial superiority is also a part of it. Getting points for AI only interaction? Cool. Avoiding player interaction with AI and being rewarded with a win? Lame.
That’s the crux of it - players shouldn’t hide behind AI to avoid player interaction in a PvP game mode. Not to derail this thread straight into the other…
ETA: I just now lost the best match I’ve ever played. 10 kills. Last player was landed next to their AFLD in an La-7. They had been flying around for a while. Took me a few minutes to dispose of their teammates. He was my last kill, with about 30 seconds left. Sadly, despite scoring the last kill and with no reds left alive, the AFLD AA killed me an awarded them the win. Awesome.
So you want kill the rol of all the multirole fighters, attackers and bombers. Right…
The game needs more ground and naval targets, not less
Tell me if you are trolling
