REFERENDUM: Request from the German community

the Tank your prolly looking for is the Leo 2E
PSO had ERA not composite like the 122’s

the PSO we have in the dev is based on the Leopard 2A6EX which did have the composite on the front hull
and retained the upper half while the lower half was removed for the Dozer blade. The argument currently is that since the dozer is an optional mod, that when the dozer blade is off then lower front plate gets the extra armor back

You should get that main tank parts Sweden got are from Germany. Its a German tank after all, Ger service tanks also used this addon armor on some vehicles. These addon armor panels are made bei Deisenroth GmbH / KMW and delivered to Sweden, where everything got assembled in cooporation with Häglunds. But doesn’t change the fact that its German tech, which was even trialed on some service tanks. On the last image you can even see a German army license plate and the tactical BW markings.

Ger easily could have gotten this addon armor as well for the A5 etc…

intelligence not strong with this one
Leo IMP
the base design of the 122
but not adopted by the German army

They probably all think that these tanks were all developed and build in Sweden. Dunno, thats probably Gajin’s fault, since they give all these minor nations own ingame presence, despite they’re just using German developed tech and products :) KMW and certain other cops just offer stuff on world arms market and minor countries order this with certain upgrades. Sometimes there are some joint ventures to do the final assembly in a local plant, but still…all the tech comes from the country of origin. As if a German tank manufacturer would ever allow it that someone else went rogue with their product & property.

He obviously doesn’t even get the meaning of a Bundeswehr Y-**** license plate. How can a A5 with Addon armor with Bundeswehr markings and Bundeswher license plate not be adopted? Dear…

Uh… did you know that Strv 122 is a modified Leopard 2A5 (you know, the German tank)?

And that the MEXAS armor package Strv 122 is modified with is a IBD Deisenroth Engineering (German company) product every German Leopard can be equipped with, and many of which actually are?

You seem to be under the misconception that Strv 122 is a Swedish tank with Swedish armor or something, when it’s literally a German tank with German armor lmao

For some it obviously makes alot sense that a country with mere 9 million inhabitants is a tank R&D + production superpower :)

As I said. Germany has the unpleasent ingame issue, that alot of its arms costumers suddenly become own War Thunder nations. So they all appear with - supposedly- better tech. Unlike US or GB, which often get export models added to their own tech trees.

oh yea keep forgetting Germany sold the Swedish schematics and Sweden then improved on them and made them better
damn shame

Dear God…

The Modular Expandable Armor System (MEXAS ) is a composite armour system developed by the German company IBD Deisenroth Engineering.

The same MEXAS-H package the Spanish Leopard 2E, the Greek Leopard 2A6HEL, the German Leopard 2A7AV, Leopard 2A8, Leopard 2 PSO-VT and many other variants use. GERMAN design. GERMAN production. It being locally produced under license by other countries doesn’t make it theirs.

A nation producing a GERMAN design under license doesn’t make that tank a product of that nation.

Also, Germany didn’t “sell the Swedish the schematics”, they merely granted them a license to locally produce their design, as they did with Spain and Leopard 2E, for example.

By the way, let me present you Leopard 2 Improved, the German Leopard 2A5 equipped with the German MEXAS-H armor package, and base for Strv 122.

The PSO did not have ERA. The side armour is composite armour designed by KMW to protect the tank against RPG-7s, although ERA could have been mounted if the customer chose to. The frontal armour is D-Tech, also developed by KMW. It’s the same stuff as on the TVM min/max, 2A6EX, Strv 122, 2A7+, 2E, 2A6HEL, etc.

Is there a document indicating how much KE can be provided by the composite armor on the side

Unfortunately not but it was designed with CE in mind anyways.

I think that quite a few people have voted, taking into account that it is a new forum, and half of the votes (48% at this moment) are in favor of fixing the PSO’s UPF, it is a priority for us.

I hope the developers take the community into account (authentically and not theoretically)

All 161 people out of the millions. A true representation of what “the community” wants

You do know that most people dont know there are forums, and that the forum shift a few months ago killed off a lot of the active forums users?

I am very well aware

What an absolute dunk on the german tree to give them a heavier 2A6 with no KE resistance on the hull whilst the Swedish tree has been enjoying that advantage for a good couple of years now. Oh but sure it gets those sideskirts with only CE resistance (munition that nobody uses in top tier unless stock, the ones that do are the Russians with their 1000+ pen ATGMs).

This means there is still no major nation with a competitor in armor to the T-80BVM. Where the hell are the Anti-ERA KE properties still? DM53 should be able to pierce through Russian ERA but still can’t, having 3 tanks with an Anti-ERA APFSDS should be Germany’s advantage over Sweden and Russia.

Why grind German top tier now? Sweden has literally better Leopard 2s and will still do even if by some miracle they get a 2A7 next patch, they even have more Leopard 2A4s and by a long shot better light tanks.

Yes, it’s the community. The community of players who play mainly in the German TT and who frequent the forum. Millions of players playing in isolation do not represent the community. Maybe you don’t understand the difference, but when Gaijin says “the German community is receiving the long-awaited MBT” he refers to the people on the forums who have been asking for it for a long time. War thunder has different communities. This is the forum. There are others that frequent and comment on the official website, others on YouTube, etc. If you look at the different polls in this new forum, most do not exceed a hundred votes. 150 is not a negligible number. I would say that it is representative of what the German community that frequents these official forums wants.
