Reduce RP and SL cost for old vehicle when new vehicles are added after them

I think we need to start reducing RP and SL costs of older vehicles when a new vehicle is added after them.

We are getting into the same situation that happens every year or two where new vehicles are added with higher and higher RP and SL cost and its making it impossible to access the new vehicles if you aren’t already at the end of the trees.

For example, I’am at the end of rank 6 in the British tree, if I want to start research on the Eurofighter its going to take me 1,970,000 RP to research the 5 planes for rank 7 and for the JAS39C and 5,370,000 SL to buy them.

This is a ridiculous amount and this is for someone who is already most of the way though the tree, even with a premium plane and account, and every update is making it harder and harder to access the new vehicles added if you arent already at the end of the trees.

Buy them on sale.

1: that only solve part of the SL cost not the RP cost.
2: the entire point is it take too long to get new vehicles, if I have to wait half a year or so for a SL sale then that doesn’t really help.
3: if I don’t buy the vehicles, I can’t start researching the vehicle in the next rank, meaning I have to sit around until the sale to even begin researching the vehicle that come before that are in the same rank.

I agree, Gaijin really should look at reducing RP costs across the board

Agreed. F2Ping this accursed game is ludicrous, even at mid tier. The most worth it purchase i’ve made in war thunder is premium account. There are SL printers if you want, namely the TURM III and Kfir Canard. Both are great vehicles at their BR and have great SL multipliers.

I am only waiting a week or two for the x-mas sale.

If you have the SL problem, you have already solved the RP problem. If you can’t solve the RP problem, you won’t have the SL problem.

In general, there is no need to buy all the stuff. I have lots of top tier vehicles unbought and over 20 million SL. And even during x-mas sale, I will only buy those that are strategically important to my tree developement or gameplay. The rest will rest until needed. And I remain solvent to buy and crew stuff when I need it. This is the economic game in war thunder: Resource allocation.

Just because there is no need to buy everything doesn’t mean people don’t want to buy everything.

That is life in a nutshell. And then you have to deal with your limits.

Just because it happens to be near a sale right now means nothing for the long term ability to actually get new vehicles.

While I agree that SL are the lesser of the problem, you have to decrease both at the same time or else one of them will inevitably become the bottleneck.

Also taking my British tree for example, I have no choice but to buy these vehicle because I can’t even start researching rank 8 without buying 5 rank 7 planes, and also that cost doesn’t include crewing any of these planes, so if I actually wanted to play any of the planes I just researched it’s going to cost another 270,000 SL each.

At the end of the day this is a GAME not some real life suffering simulator.

You are always near a sale. After the sale is before the sale. That is the idea of sales.

As players vary in skill, a bottleneck will always occur: One resource is collected via time (RP) and one is collected via skill (SL). It is very unlikely, that you hit the perfect mix. You either lack SL or RP. That is inherent.

If I need SL quickly, I toss a wager. They do work quite well.

As you likely know, this has been common practice in the past. I am sure, it will happen again. It must have happened this year (2024) too, because after taking a longer break, several of my vehicles had completed but unbought modules. Which happens when they shrink the cost of vehicles.

SL sales happen twice a year I think, 6 months is not “always near a sale”

So you admit it is a problem you just think its better to continually slap band-aids on the problem every year or so to a problem that happens continuously, and has caused massive player backlash in the past? Why wait for it to be a problem that annoys the community and especially new players? Why not just implement a system like I suggested that will cause this never to be a problem again.

Where do I do that? I tell you that what you demand in the thread title is already in place for many years. So why would that be a problem then? When I researched the Sabre, it was still around 400.000 RP or some such.

And it is intended to annoy highly ambitious players, else no one would buy premium stuff.

On the other hand, this battle pass had a free premium that prints cash very nicely.

The entire point I am arguing is that the current system of rebalancing RP and SL costs is inadequate because of two reasons.

1: it happens to slowly, at maybe once to twice a year.
2: they dont decrease them enough for it to keep up with the amount of new vehicles.

And I know this because this is the exact reason the game has gone through multiple player backlashes that have forced them to do drastic decreases in cost.

A system that causes the player base to basically revolt every few years is not a good system.

Which one is that? I wonder if I should try to bother with BP again. I gave up on it after getting it to level 20 as it was not possible to do challenges in the modes I wanted to play, and the tasks were too obnoxious (fly for 90 minutes, 6 kills zero assists so cannot do assist task)

You know you can change tasks if you don’t like them. The assist task is actually a hard one, because you can’t make it happen if your team doesn’t kill stuff.

They cost SL, and I rarely have more than 100K SL banked as is. I am fine with rerolling 1-2 times, but doing it more means I gotta farm SL in other modes to offset it.
