History.
After the Second World War, some AB41 armored cars were used by the Polizia di Stato in the “Reparti Celeri” units. There was the risk and fear of a pro-communist coup, and there were various clashes between different political factions which led the armed forces to destroy various pre-war vehicles, but also to reuse some. In this case, some AB41s were assigned to the police for rapid interventions in the event of armed clashes or the risk of them. After the 1950s, the vehicles were gradually removed and replaced by more modern vehicles, and some were even put on display in museums.
The camouflage.
The armored cars were painted a pink-reddish red color specifically used by vehicles used by the police force. This color was chosen both for its uniqueness and for its high visibility in city traffic and also to cover the old camouflage colors of the vehicles.
