Hello there,
I was wondering what is the best sound mods and with the least amount of risk… which one will you recommend me to download?
I was using RCSM for a while, but it took a while to get updated for the recent update so i switched to OPEX (formerly IWSM). Both do a good job of improving aircraft sounds (RWR especially), and adjust engine and gun sounds for ground too.
If you’re concerned of risk, make sure to download from live.warthunder, as it’s the most credible I’d say.
I downloaded the RCSM from Live.warthunder, is this a great sound mods? it look very popular and also is it safe?
also can i edit the sound mods? like removing some folder because I do not like some specific sound of it.
My RCSM has no engine sound… how to fix it? And for air it completely silent. What do I do?
If you followed the installation guide properly, and it says “sound mod” in red text at the top left, it’s probably because in the recent WT update they changed engine sounds for some things that RCSM hasn’t updated to support, like the rooikat, fox, and king tiger. OPEX has given me no issues with those, which is why it’s what i currently use. You can probably remove specific vehicles by sifting through the folder of all the sounds and deleting them, but I’ve got no idea if that would actually work.
I also have two Config.blk folders… do I have to edit both of them?
Can you show me the OPEX sound mods? I can’t find it in Live.
you can find the mod on his profile
It totally safe right? No one has ever been banned?
Yes. You can use them all or just one or more. You don’t remove the mod folder. You just remove the sounds inside the mod folder.
You need to also enable use of custom sounds ingame, under options/sound.
Gaijin always has a disclaimer, but I’ve been using RCSM or ones similar for years.
You only need one. Have you spent a few moments to review “how to install custom sound mods”. RCSM has it right on their main page.
INSTALLATION
- Find the “config.blk” file in your warthunder folder.
- Open “config.blk” with notepad and find “sound{ }” in the “config.blk”.
- Under “sound{ }” add these line: “enable_mod:b=yes”
- Now find the sound folder and make a new folder and call it “mod”.
- Download a soundmod and drop the files in the newly created “mod” folder.
And then you’re DONE.
Note the requirement to create the folder called mod inside the Sound folder and then unzip the files into that folder.
I prefer RCSM for overall sounds of aircraft, I find that OPEX has excellent upper tier jet and tanks sounds.
