I know this has been a problem for a while now but since the Eurofighters and the Rafale came out I have noticed many more people complaining about locking enemies up with radar and then getting their radar lock switched out for an IRST lock instead thus rendering their radar missiles useless.
As far as I am aware the automatic mode switching does more harm than good.
In real life a radar lock would never be replaced with an IRST lock without input from the pilot. The Rafale and Eurofighters use sensor fusion but i doubt that it works like that.
The automatic mode switching results in some very frustrating situations where your missiles are rendered uselss because you don’t have a radar lock or your radar lock gets switched, for example from PD into a normal search mode resulting in the player loosing lock due to chaff.
My idea, make the automatic switching toggleable. Either in the function menu or in the settings.
What is your take, I know that many planes suffer from this ?
