I shoot at a plane and the enemy plane lunches a missile and my missile/radar suddenly starts to lock into it and releases the lock on the enemy plane and the radar missile i fired before now goes after the enemy missile.
For whatever reason modern radar sets that can detect missiles prefer to track faster contacts (usually missiles post launch) when given the option of tracking that or a slower but larger aircraft.
Itβs a bug that has been around forever and hits all radars that can detect missiles. The only way I have found to get around it is by using TWS soft lock to be able to quickly cycle back to the target aircraft when guiding a missile. If your radar can do that. If not using ARH or a radar with no TWS mode, then you can try unlocking the missile, returning to search mode and quickly attempting to lock your intended target before the missile self-destructs. Usually works best with radar that can use TWS modes.
The radar locks into chaff as well. Man i thought it would be easy to grind in top tier so bought the F18C Early but after like 50 matches i only got like 3-4 kills.
Yeah also happened to me while using the colombian kfir
Iβm 80% sure in the pulse doppler mode your radar should ignore chaff unless itβs from someone who is notching, but that radar should have TWS soft lock and NCTR to help mitigate the bug that makes you lock enemy missiles all the time.
