Radar and radar missile bugs

Already happened multiple times today, and some resulted in accidental TK’s.

Common.

The whole radar and missile mechanic has so many bugs, I can’t count…

Missiles don’t render at all.
Missiles go anywhere for no reason.
Locking out of the HMD box.
Lock jumps on enemy’s fired missile and the enemy disappears on radar.
IR missile goes for friendly by crossing pathes, doesn’t matter which distance nor angle.
Radar shows ghost targets.

You need more?

Gaijin would make me lock the teammate 12km away, that’s heading away from me, while also being outside that box, before it locks an F-16 that’s 5k away and rapidly approaching.

It’s ridiculous.

I reported this a year ago and the report was closed without comment…

Radar stuck is a common problem again on newer radars. Problem over years, too.

Same issue with Rafale radar.
Sometime, it’s impossible to lock enemy, even on head on.

So for now, Mirage 2000 is way better than Rafale.

There is a friendly in pursuit of the contact that you are engaging and at close proximity to the target you are engaging as well. Terms we can use to describe the play in this clip :

Buddy Spike or Fractricide Risk
Collateral Lock
Danger Close

I suggest recording and uploading every accidental team kill, so you wouldn’t get banned

When the seeker lock swaps you see that it doesn’t make any sense.

From a closer view I noticed that the missile had a strong frontal aspect lock to the target, then swaps to the missile he fires onto my teammate, and then swaps again to my teammate who’s almost (or completely) outside of the seeker cone

In the context of air-to-air combat, this could mean an Active Radar Homing (ARH) missile like the AIM-120 AMRAAM accidentally locking onto a friendly aircraft or another unintended object near the intended enemy target.

Danger Close is a term primarily used in military contexts, typically referring to situations where friendly forces are within a certain proximity to a target being engaged, creating a heightened risk of friendly fire. It is most commonly associated with close air support (CAS) or artillery strikes, but it can also apply to air-to-air combat in certain scenarios.

Now rewatch the scenario and apply the above mentioned points.

Theory is why we are pointing it out in the situation. For a second the darter lost track and required nearest and biggest radar target.

Basically, lesson here for you is TO NOT shoot towards the enemy if your TEAM is in LOS or within “clutter range” to the enemy.

This is the exact problem. Why should the R-darter even lose the lock in that situation? The missile shouldn’t swap from a frontal aspect huge target like the F-15 to a small missile just because it feels like it, and in this situation, it swapped again from the missile to another jet outside the cone. Bro just watch the video I feel like I’m transcribing the whole thing

It swapped from F15 (E) to F15 (F). Basically, with some luck you did not get a team kill. Timing of it can be coincidental - maybe the original target mass chaff spammed and pushed to multipathing - we do not have full angle to view.

Varying aspects that can confuse the missile in real life that is very similar to the situation that you posted.
