RAAF F/A-18F: Twin-Seat Superbug!

No, you see the RAAF 18F getting 120D. For example you won’t see MICA NG or C-8/D on EF2K and Rafale and subject to change means with more data taht may change…

✨Gaijin “Subject to Change” Entertainment ✨

Take everything said with the biggest fist of salt possible, then wait until day of update release to confirm. Things can change any minute, hour or day. 😎

thats just the eurocanards being denied. The primary reason is to boost US air (until F22 and F35) but there wasnt anything saying it would be exclusive + this was before the public announcement of the aussie super hornet

Now the real question is if the US will still get AIM-120Ds on a new aircraft variant (F-16 PoBIT or F-15EX) or if Gaijin bamboozled everyone.

With how that sentence reads it should mean a new aircraft variant fot the US still.

This has been one puzzling devblog season so fat.

almost certainly for the F-15EX and PoBIT if they ever come is my expectation. the US is going to have a major gap between their current stuff and raptor id not.

only the first couple days, we always see a lot more around trailer time + dev stream is where the juicy details are

?

Was it not straight forward? I felt like it was 🤔 TL;DR “US gets new jet and a new missile”

Idk, I have been missing more of the dev season than usual due to work so maybe thats the main cause of my confusion.

I dont think it does. to me its reading as: “this missile will be mainly to assist top tier USA. It will also debut with a new aircraft addition (no nation explicitly named)”

Nvm yeah @_Renzo he’s right:

Separately mentions AIM-120D and new aircraft variant without specifying. Maybe I too am drunk (I mean, I am, but that’s cause its Friday and 8pm)

It’s still weird to implement a missile to help a nation, only to advertise it mainly for an addition to a nation that doesn’t even need the help.

Hornet with 120Ds still isn’t 14.7 worthy. So it would truely be a sad joke if Gaijin thinks that would be helpful in any way. (Someone among the Gaijin higher ups truely has to be the biggest Hornet fanboy ever lol)

Then again they did try to move the 18E to 14.7 as is, so maybe I shouldn’t be suprised.

Get this man a beer!

Primarily for one nation doesnt mean its going to be exclusive.

the super hornets overall are a bit of a strugglebus so it will be in Gaijin’s interest to give all of them that missile so that they are a bit more competitive for BVR jousting. I think its more to make them better for 14.3 as they have no business at the same BR as the AF/A-18 at 14.0

maybe we will see when 9X, ASRAAM and whatever else is in the game

I found this post from Smin as well, where it’s worded differently:

Hmmm… back to speculation brain: F-16C PoBIT. Definitely. F-15EX technically wouldn’t need it as it’s basically an almost eurofighter in terms of acceleration.

Giving it to a 6-missile F-16C would increase its effectiveness more than the current AIM-120A does. It’s no slouch either, but this would finally fill the gap for an F-16 that currently has no AMRAAM beyond the A variant. F-15C GE is a similar story (in how “effective” it is).

He also makes videos about things he’s absolutely not an expert on

And people sometimes take his word as fact
Which isn’t great

Always nice to see more Australian content. Although admittedly I haven’t venture in to the realm of top tier air much myself. But who knows what the future will bring.
