I would say it would do fine at 7.7 I think it’s a little faster than the Japanese wheels boys but a plus to the r3 is that it’s smaller, and has an unmanned turret, irl it did have nvd as well
unmanned turret is useless when the ammo rack is at its side…
the same ammo rack that can explode when hit by 7.62…
being smaller means that crew is packed togheter (4 vs 5 of the “japanese wheels boys”)
size is a really big deal when dealing with rat tanks such as the xm800t, the Japanese type 87 (p) is really tall and can frontally be penetrated by 50 cals while the R3 is immune frontally from 50 cals, the R3 also has better elevation angles which can help with airplanes, and the R3 is amphibious, overall what im saying is that the R3 would fit perfectly at 7.7 with its irl features.
That’s not true at all, it seems you’ve missed a giant windshield. It can actually be penetrated even by some small caliber mgs through windshield in close combat.
