R24r bugged

I had my radar lock on the target that was heading toward me at 5000 meters, then I launched my R24R at him at 10 km, my missile instantly switched to another target that was 5 km behind him while I had my lock on him this whole time. I never locked onto the other target, I didnt even know he was there. This freaking game was bugged like there is no IT department.

Hold on now, the target is headon at 5k, u launch at 10k and it switch to target that is 10k away from u? At least be consistent with the range.

5000 meters was the altitude, 10 km was the distance between us, and another target was 5 km behind him.

If the target is above u, ur radar is in src mode which can be chaffed easily, u lost radar contact or the msl iog does and it track the guy behind him that isn’t chaffing.

I could be wrong but i think this is what happened.

No, I didn’t lose lock, my radar lock was on him the entire time, my missile only tracked him in an head on for half sec, I tell you man, this is pure garbage coding on Gaijin side.

I was on Mig 23ML, the target didn’t even use Chaff.

It is not long from the beginning of the match.

This wasn’t a bug. The R-24R uses CW, which means the radar only needs to paint the target the msl do all the tracking. The JA37 was flying perpendicular to you, while the F5 was flying straight on. Because you launched the missile from over 9 kilometers away, the R24R illumination cone was wide enough to cover both planes. The missile simply went for the one with the better signal.

Case in point: don’t launch R24R at like 10km, it is best used at or below 5 km, maybe 6-7 if the target is dogfighting.

R-24R doesn’t always do what you tell it to do, but damn it does hit something anyway! Unlike sparrows…

Once I had a double kill while guiding 2x R-24Rs at the same time, each missile went to a different target and both hit. God bless russian bias.
