I need proof that the R-27T is capable of lock-on after launch

i dont know about the T but the ET worked on a multi-guidance where it was given datalink guidance until its own seeker could pick up the thermal signature of the aircraft (to be able to utilise max range shots)

i dont have any source for this currently though.

im pretty sure Vympel tested them at least. they had the 77’s seeker on a 27ER body.
isnt too hard to predict very accurately how it would perform.

But this story - just a funny theory, without proofs and logic.

Firstly you need to put your radar into datalink to missile mode, which possible only while using 27R.
Secondly - 27T havent datalink at all.

You need to ask about that. The excerpt states that two aircraft were modified for testing new missiles. The second one was also modified for testing the K-27 family of missiles.

But №970, been modified to use R-77, and without any more mods, test the R-27, with ARH.

Even if you nitpick every word in this book (and remember, it’s just a book, not a test report), it won’t help you. Because the missile was tested on a modified aircraft, not a production model.
