I know problem is it Looks Tiny buy once you are close to the enemy you need to get far closer to the enemy for that ring to cover it than it looks becouse planes are small Targets

You are being flat out wrong right now
The R-73 can only be flared by putting flares into the seeker and keeping them there until you are out of the FOV, farther than 2.5km it is AIM-9L equivalent seeker view, but you should never fire one 2.5km away rear aspect. After 2.5km it becomes a top 3 missile. Don’t try to make it seem like it isn’t.
The pre launch FOV is 4.5° which was the point. The FOV post launch is ofc much better with 0.75°.
It may be but 4.5 seems really high, someone would have to check the Datamines to make sure, last I remember it was in the 1.5-2 range but I’m definitely wrong on that. Probably closer to 3.

I don’t, but the spreadsheet gets updated quite often. The seeker on the R73 is definitely quite large tho, so I dont believe the 4.5° to be unrealistic.

Aim9m has a 3.6 fov which never changes so worse than r27t fov both before and After gating
The AIM-9M is 3.6
And here’s the R-73 again
So the R-73 looks to be a little bigger but not by much, 4.5 is plausible but 4 looks closer
Ask your r60/60m again

Can we not Just settle on 4.5
Also the narrowest seeker is probably the Japanese top tier spaa 0.5 gated seeker including the aim9ms seeker disable
So that should be impossible to dodge if modeled correctly

If the 4.5deg FOV is a problem when people are pre-flaring, just slave the R-73 to radar/irst makes it so that the missile is hard to pre-flare.
