Questions about notching

If I have a missile launched at me and the enemy plane who sent it still locking me and both of them are at a different angle from me, which one do i have to notch?

When the ARH missile goes pitbull I should only notch it?

(And I tried to notch, multiple time but every time I get shot down, so if someone is kind enough to link a notch tutorial, that would be greatly appreciated).

Thank you in advance for your responses!

if its an ARH then you have to notch both

if active radar missile loses hard lock on you it will regress to DL until it regains lock, if plane loses lock, then arh missile still has lock

if you have the time i guess notch the plane first to break their lock and DL and hope they dont re-lock then notch the missile

or fly to the ground and use terrain to block the lock or try and cold fly if youre far enough away

Yes… but also a little no.

When a missile goes active, it is no longer being supported by the launch aircraft and so it becomes irrelevant. Except when you notch and chaff the missile, then DL resumes, but by which point, you should have defeated the missile enough that it shouldnt be a problem.

So when defending against ARH, I would recommend always notching the missile rather than the launch aircraft, but after you’ve notched the missile (I.e you RWR has stopped screaming at you), change direction to dodge the missile that might still be coming for you, kinda like how you defeat an Aim-9M

At least this is what I do, and even with terrible chaff (BOL) I have a very high success rate in both the F3 Late and especially the Typhoons at defeating ARH missiles
