Questions about Mirage IIIC (rocket booster, R530E)

Hi people.

I just unlocked Magic 1 missiles for the Mirage IIIc.

It is an amazing plane, and 9B to magic is like the worst IR missiles to the third best rear IR missiles (pl7 has superior fuse so not a complete clone, pl5b is more practical overall).

This missiles can tackle Mig 19s and even Arieted, which can easily dodge 9B and sometimes 9D.

The problem is, delta wings take lots of energy and as with rear missiles one has to manuver a lot for the ideal shot.

Since I can barely aim the DEFA on remote play (on a phone; yes I’m playing PC version), I am completely dependent on the missiles the plane offer, I am wondering if the rocket booster is worth it?

I’ve tested on test flight. Seems to help a bit after losing the energy

My loadout is

1x R530E (IR missile)
2x Magic 1
1x or 2x rocket pods to deal with A10s in frontal aspect

Perhaps the rocket booster can compensate for the increased weight of the rocket pods?

Also, is it just me or does the R530 despite higher max G limit feels less manuverable than 9B?

Finally how long does the booster actually last? Seems long-ish in test flight, about minutes but I don’t know how that translates to actual combat.

magic 1 and pl7 are the exact same

if youre fighting 9.0 the booster is probably somewhat useful, to intercept and throw r530 or magic at f104s that spaceclimb, but if youre fighting 11.0 you might want to take guns but then again if you turnfight anything at 11.0 without flare in a mirage youll probably die, so maybe the booster is still useful

Good idea. I launched 3 missiles at 3km targets yesterday (su 7s) and all missed, R530E was dodged at last moment. I was low on energy after the turning with mig 21s

Perhaps the booster can come in useful.

generally if you dont have to you should try to not launch a magic beyond 2km, no point wasting a free kill
