Question: Notching vs Missile Trade

ECM wont save missiles from being shot down

if anything it might only make it worse

ECM will just make missiles go stupid and miss on their own

It reduces the necessity. Also I’m just shilling for ECM sad J-15 noises

Originally i started writting lengthy answer adressing every point properly but i ultimately gave up because i just cant be arsed.

If you want to rely on MCM from now on, sure, be my guest.

But you will eventually run into situation you cant MCM out of.

And if you dont know how to notch, you die.

Simple as.

ECM isnt that easy and is way more complex

becasue missiles can still track you even if you jam them through HoJ (home on jam)

that will reduce their range due to them not being able to properly loft, but at shorter ranges there wont be much of a difference

considering you can 1-chaff missiles that should be nearly immune to chaff in most scenarios, don’t count on gaijin implementing ECM in any remotely accurate manner.

don’t count on HOJ doing anything more than turning your extremely lethal AIM-120D into a pure-pursuit telephone pole either

well ECM might be the only way gaijin can justify buffing ARH seekers
bc as you said, currently you can 1 chaff any fox-3 without alot of effort

but we will have to wait and see

in the context of WT i wouldnt call the 120D extremely lethal

bc WT has a fundamental gameplay issue which makes ppl not fight at medium to long ranges but rather at short ranges

ig thats already well known in the community tho

i think the fundamental issue is that the game just isn’t built around aircraft having more than 4 or 6 ARH missiles.

even just 6 or 8 FOX3s per plane in a 16v16 means there’s nearly, or more than, a hundred FOX3s per team. i already feel comically overpowered flying my MiG-29N with 4 R-77s and 2 R-27ETs, i always said the game wasn’t ready for late 4th gens and early 4.5th gens

Reject chaos embrace sim

forgot the 120D is even in the game at this point, so to clarify, i mean that you shouldn’t count on your hypothetically one-to-one with real-life modern FOX3 being able to hit its target under HOJ

i don’t even play sim above 12.3 because i don’t find facing smokeless missiles fun, even after gaijin made them have a gigantic fucking plume anyways.

Fair. I don’t play NATO (excluding SEATO JPN) so pre flare is just law

Perhaps. But that ship has long since sailed

non-NATO under 13.3 and above 11.3 has gotta be so ass, all your competetive planes are a bit overtiered (13.3 with only FOX1s, sob) and even then they’re not competetive anymore, while NATO has smokeless slingers at 12.7 while you get R-60s

as i said the issue in WT is that everyone is way too close together

i mean IRL you might shoot a normal fox-3 at 70 or 80km
but in WT you dont even think about shooting your fox-3 unless the enemy is only 20 or 30km away from you

becasue its just too easy to defend against them at longer ranges

a way to get ppl to play at longer ranges would be ECM, if gaijin makes fox-3s more chaff resistant

that way ppl have to rely more on ECM and at the ranges most missiles are currently fired at ingame will still hit even with HoJ, effectively forcing ppl to engage at longer ranges
(or so i think)

This is the exact BR range that I gave up on Russia and decided big 3 isn’t right for me lmao. I think they’ve done a lot to help it be worth it for Russian tree at least, but it’s bad. Also radars. Dear God. Redfor radar is the name of my deletion note

i don’t even play above 11.7 most of the time since sealclubbing bad players flying even worse aircraft against significantly superior NATO vehicles is straight up not fun anymore

that gets better with the Yak-141, Mig-29SMT, Su-30SM and Su-34

Something something “new premium 13.3”

nah what do you mean?

the 12.3 top bracket is fair and balanced /s
