Eh, when I refer to gatekeeping, I am talking about the radical type in which a unique variant or unique export product is denied simply because the individual either wants it for themselves or is upset about another nation having something similar to their own.
While it is true that some people here gatekeep specifically for this reason, I believe that most of what you refer to are just nation-specific protests against copy paste, and that a majority of the German mains here don’t have any issues with notably modified German tanks and aircraft (such as the modified StuGs for Finland and Syria).
I don’t really find that not wanting a Tiger I, Panther, Panzer IV, Jagdpanzer, Marder, or any other unmodified captured vehicles in a tree such as France is a harsh preference, and if said opinions come from a German main, than that wouldn’t make them any more of a gatekeeper than if it was an American or Russian main that said it.
Basically the entire debate over British colonies with german mains because they use some german kit, but more often than not they players from those places favour their kit being unified in the British tree.
To a less extreme degree its seen quite a lot from Americans when it comes to lend lease gear but its usually the most aggressive whenever its anything with a slight connection to Rheinmetall
That’s true, which I believe is not an example of an “extreme” gatekeep since there is a proper reasoning behind it, but I can attest that quite often is Rheinmetall’s presence in a developed product used to claim ownership over it regardless of where the actual product (often an export vehicle) destination may be.
It would leave the doors open for Britain to acquire a lot of American kit because of how prevalent BAE systems is across American military industry. The abrams even uses a British developed composite for its armour. Its a poor argument to use to try and claim everything for yourself
Caern, think. It is the way Gaijin speeds up the grind. Its what people fought for.
It is good for the players, cause they now need to research one or two TTs to collect all the vehicles.
Challenger 3 is being produced by Rhinemettal UK. Vickers 7 equally has no logical connection or reason to be in the German tree. So neither will be coming to the German tree for obvious reasons.
