I’ve used it from third-person plenty of times
… what?
Brain fart :p
Wow this is some sweaty stuff
Again, I’m flying with a mounted gun and 2 ATGMs… I don’t want an unexpected TY-90 that I can’t flare.
An Mi-35m has 53 weapons to my 3…
This is standard game play now, if you don’t do it you can be sure the enemy team is… and 99% of them just fly up to fire ATGMs as soon as possible, you see them within seconds anyway.
The really ‘sweaty stuff’ is that an SPAA could ping the helipad and then follow the helicopter as they flank around the map without ever once seeing them or turning on radar. Then when they pop up to attack you know they’re climbing and have a missile ready for them.
‘air alert’ should be for visible targets within your keen vision skill range…
This is not an excuse to stoop to their level. Abusing a broken game system in a mode with limited information ruins the point of the mode
Please bug report it and post a link…
I do it once or twice at the start of the game and am far too busy flying to track targets… and I always head to the enemy helipad anyway.
Where else can I use my gun? :(
“Radar IFF : |-| enemy |=| ally : Tank Air Alert with NO direction is FRIENDLY!”
is my new hotkey…
despite this I just had four games in row where I was team killed…
However, perhaps it’s doing some good because I’m not getting killed by SPAA any more…
It is an interesting thread.
I just think that it is too abstract for those you actually try to reach.
If you don’t know this, this won’t teach you, as it is too vague.
How would you put it then? It can’t be an essay…
Perhaps 2 or 3 hotkeys that describe your intention first?
I am having a similar problem in heli PVE and I find that actually talking to people in chat works best.
You’re having a problem with team kills … in Heli PVE??
/boggle
I can’t ‘talk to people in chat’… I’m flying a helicopter, in VR… already a tricky proposition.
I need a clear, easy to understand sentence to not only educate the idiots that play SPAA how to read their radar and the other idiots that see a helicopter on the enemy side and instantly start shooting…
I also blame my fellow helicopter pilots because it seems the only strategy they know is to take off, fire a few ATGMs from over the helipad and then get killed by SPAA… the idea of flanking is apparently too insane for them :p
"It’s your fault I killed you because you’re in the wrong side…’ is a frequent response :(
No but with people who nuke the map as fast as possible, thinking they’ll earn like crazy.
this isn’t the same problem… you can easily fly for 5 minutes in PVE without shooting anything, in sim you can be shot before you even get airborne (although this is now rare)… I don’t have time to chat even if I could see my keyboard.
FYI PVE rewards really suck…
Air alert spammers are the worst.
“people who communicate in sim are worse than team killers”…
got it
/facepalm
They don’t communicate, they hinder any communication by flooding a chat with air alerts, because they are unable to VID the target.
SteelBeast: "hmmm, there is a HIND… is it Russian or Italian? Too far to see rondels. We have a Mi-24 on our team but I saw a enemy helicopter killed someone recently… shall I press my air alert hotkey to check? Nah, I don’t want to over communicate’…
/Heliboy proceeds to kill 5 players on SteelBeasts team, including him…
Such a bad way to play sim…

/Fires spike at Heliboy who is on the enemy side killing their ZA-11s…
“You idiot, why are you on the wrong side”…
Even worse way to play sim.
Really?! Someone taking M-24 in 10_2 and yet alone scoring 5 kill in it ? THAT remains to be seen…
But surely Team killers who are usually new player to SIM, first thing what they do is to go here and read this topic…
