As someone who’s been playing SQB’s for nearly 10 years, and seeing so little change or rewards for this game mode, I would love to see any if not all of these changes implemented, possibly even more if they are positive changes.

Thanks for the thread! If you have any suggestions, it would be great if you could be more specific. I will quickly go through them one by one and shed some light on your ideas (I hope this will allow you to provide a solution or more details on how to implement them).
2.a
- Implement squadron icons/logos that display in SQB and on player cards.
More or less, you ask for player created content to be visible for everyone in game.
Such request require a lot of work and background check (copyrights, law etc.). How you suggest to solve such issue?
What with squadrons that decided to dispand/change name/logo? Every time such action would cause update on game side (and restart the process with copyrights etc).
Are you able to suggest solution for such issues?
2.b
- Add a squadron advertising option in-game (similar to recruiting posts), so active squads can grow and compete.
I’m a little puzzled. What do you mean? An advertisement displayed before the random battle? (joke ;) )

- Rework the bracket system to ensure more balanced matchups across skill levels.
Mythical “more balanced”. What you mean by that? Who is the best judge of what is more balanced? Specific squadron? The biggest one, the one with most members? My point is “more balanced” is super easy to type. But what exactly that means?
3.b
- Scale SQB internal points more fairly based on squadron size and participation.
Again, it’s just a “make world better” idea. If you want to suggest changes, well, you need to suggest them with a bit more details.
3.c
- Adjust the win/loss ratio scaling so that a single loss doesn’t disproportionately affect rankings.
Again, how? What ratio would be most fair?
since the mode requires more teamwork and coordination than random battles.
This is not an argument. You choose to play this mode. You get more benefits from it, than from random battles.
I intentionally avoided discussing rewards, because such discussion leads to nowhere. You always will request more [(it’s perfectly fine to request more and more, that’s how the world rolls) and in case we approve give more, you will request even more in few, because previous more is not enough now].
Feel free to throw ideas for points 2&3
I’ll answer two topics.
Regarding the balance in Squad Battles, they should either work so that squads only face off against squads with similar ranks - (which could be bad for those who started in SQB and are unranked), or the balance should be based on the players KPS (kill per spawn) or the squadron winrate.
About the season rewards, it should be something similar to the Tournament System (TSS).
We could also discuss what I mentioned above, about changing the old icons.

two great fixes either remove front heli spawn or have to wait 10 sec to spawn same with bomber spawns just remove them

100% agree with this post because matchmaking needs to be a lot better since when I first started playing in a very low level squadron, we still played against AVR and ASP1D even though no one was even level 100 yet but now that I’ve climbed to top 15 squadrons I do notice that we play against a lot of low level and very high level squadrons so it just isn’t balanced.
I mean levels of competitiveness but yes when I was in lower end of skill squadrons we weren’t great but still faced AVR
I have VC with multiple leaders from 50+ SQB squadrons. We have decided we will mainly focus on section 2 in our first response. Section 3 will require a while for us to come up with solidified ideas.
Response to 2.a – Squadron Icons/Logos
We understand the concerns regarding copyright, ownership, and the technical overhead of squadron logos. To address these:

Submission Process: Logos should be submitted through the official forums for review and approval.

Authorized Submitters: Only a squadron’s CO or Deputy may submit or request changes.

Cost Requirement: Each logo submission/change should cost 2,500 GE (or equivalent in Gaijin Coin). This cost creates a barrier to casual abuse and minimizes moderation bloat.

Change Limitations: A squadron logo can only be changed once per season, preventing constant updates and unnecessary workload.

Content Restrictions: Submissions must be original images to avoid copyright and legal issues.

Eligibility: Only squadrons in the top 100 SQB rankings (With top 100 trophy on their squadron page) should be eligible to submit logos for in-game visibility. This ensures that the system is reserved for active, competitive squadrons.
This framework minimizes moderation overhead, provides Gaijin with a monetization avenue, and ensures that only committed and competitive squadrons benefit from the feature.
Response to 2.b – Squadron Advertising
We understand the question, “What’s wrong with chat rooms in the Squadron section of the Chat tab?” The issue is that those chats are temporary - once you log off, the messages disappear. This makes them ineffective for long-term recruiting or structured communication.
Our proposal is to expand the Squadron system with tools similar to existing in-game features:

Persistent Recruitment Tab: Just like the locked “Updates” and “Settings Questions” tabs (where accounts like OrsonES are always present), introduce a locked recruitment tab where squadrons can advertise themselves.

Dedicated Squadron Recruitment Page (See photo #1)

Under the “Squadrons” section (currently 3 pages), add a 4th page dedicated to recruitment.

Only Commanders, Deputies, or Officers can post.

Limit it to one post per squadron to prevent spam.

Include a bump feature (with a 4-day cooldown) so squadrons can refresh visibility without constant reposting.

Discord Integration: Allow a hyperlink under the new recruitment tab for squadrons to link to their official Discord, making it easier for interested players to join communities.

This system would provide a structured, persistent, and non-intrusive way for squadrons to grow, while also keeping recruitment organized and moderated within the game.
great proposed changes, would make squadron battles a lot more popular and accessible hopefully. Would be amazing if more of the playerbase would get competitive and play

Every idea suggested here would be vast improvements on the squadron/squib system. Currently theres very little incentive to play these battles outside of a simple competitive drive and the community. Bros cooking with gas
IMO these are great suggestions. This would definitely make Squadrons more like an actual part of the game and not something that exists on the side.

I find this a little disappointing since one of the major problems in SRE is the lack of rewards.
As of today there is 595 squadrons that have played the game mode of Squadron battles this season.
Only 20 of those squadrons will receive any kind of real reward such as golden eagles. (We do get squadron borders and this is a nice addition to give credit when credit is due).
Out of those 20 squadrons each player will receive a tiny token amount between 10-100 golden eagles unless you are in one of the most competitive squadrons. Those players might get a few hundred GE.
I would like to propose three changes to the SRE rewards system and it would be greatly appreciated if you could review and respond to each.

Have players receive squadron battle RP toward the squadron only tanks and planes from playing squadron battles.
The current system of 20k per 3 days is nice but this means those who don’t play squadron battles are rewarded just the same as those who play 8 hours per day.
I would like to see a change where players would get say 500 RP per match won and say 200RP per match lost.
This would push more players to play this part of the game (something that we need is more players!) it would also encourage players to play for more sessions, Get more points and allow players to play more of the fun tanks and planes you guys have added into the squadron tech tree. -
Allow event tanks and planes to be unlocked by playing squadron battles. At the current moment you give points for Arcade, Realistic and Simulator but 0 points for SRE.
For quite a large part of this community we play 90% of our time in SRE. Giving players in SRE the same RP rewards as Simulator battles would be fair and it would make players not feel like they are forced to choose between playing SRE for points or grinding the new event. -
Increase the golden eagle reward’s for those competitive squadrons.
These are the players who have spent the most time and money in your game to get to that skill level. Perhaps each player could get 200-500 each (This is still a small amount but its at least enough for 1 module on a tank)
I think GE rewards might need further discussion since i am aware this is something that brings money into the game.
I cant speak for everyone but in my community most players find it a little insulting to be given $0.40 worth of GE after 9 weeks worth of pushing.
Having spoken with my guys they would much rather lose the GE awards but actually gain RP towards the squadron planes and tanks as this is something meaningful and beneficial to all (you get more data and games, Players get more planes and feel a reason to play, Public matches have more players when the SRE players are spading them.)
I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to look into the post as the previous one made on the old form system by RO6 leader Grogdan never got much traction. I really do hope that this will lead towards SRE getting more attention as it is such an amazing game mode that contains the majority of your most skilled, active and committed players to the war thunder game.
It would be really cool to see these changes added.

I think some of your ideas have great promise.
The idea of a SRE recruitment page could be a major game changer for the game mode as it is quite hard to recruit new players to the SRE community.
Having some images would be a nice addition however I think this would involve quite a bit of work for the dev’s / mod team to moderate the submissions. I would love to see it implemented though as the current system feels quite outdated and clunky. Perhaps if we had a report squadron option the same way we report abuse to the game masters this could be a way to have it implemented
I agree with all of these, I love the sre community and its my favorite war thunder mode. I would like to see it get a bit more love and have a larger playerbase.
