With the sales incoming I want to buy a new pack at half the price and I want to buy a jet. From what I’ve seen the new Su-30SM2, the AESA EF-2000 and the new Rafale are the strongest (with the F-15E being left behind by a worse radar). I’m concerned about the number of CMs the EF and the Rafale get. The SU is somewhat better with 98 but the rest have <=64. With this in mind, I’m thinking about the F1, Su-30Mk2 or the swiss F-18. Which would you recommend?
PS: I haven’t read almost anything about the F-18E. Your thoughts on it? Also, yes, I do know how to play them.
Depends. You have lot of battles so you prolly have lot of experience - whats your prefered playstyle?
I don’t really have a preference. As long as it is decent at ARH slinging and has at least a decent FM I’m ok with it. My current top jet is the Su-27SM and, honestly, it’s a piece of trash. The radar is garbage. The R-77s are so-so, especially because of the radar.
I mean out of the three you named, only the Su-30Mk2 has ARHs
excludes F1. Thing handles like a boat.
excludes the Su-30MK2 then; but imo the radar isnt that bad.
Now, I coincidentally collected both F1 and US 18C early (no practical difference between premium hornets bar swiss one having 120x CMs) and I was just gifted the Su-30MKK which is practically the same as Su-30MK2 bar better missiles and has only slightly worse engines than the Su-27SM.
So I will offer you my two cents on all the aircraft.
F1C-200
Good:
- has CM count rivaling that of some top tier jets (192x CMs + 216x large chaff through wing mounted pod)
- 2x very good IRCCM missiles at 12.0
- 530F is pulse guided so it doesnt trigger RWRs like CW missiles do
Bad:
- It turns like boat
- can redline in level flight at sea level
- radar like that of MiG-23
- honest to god the worst RWR you will find at that BR (still workable tho)
- 530F will be defeated with single chaff if enemy is aware of you
18C early (by extent the swiss 18C too)
Good:
- m a n e u v e r a b l e, ive memed on lot of planes in single turns, and that was without cobra button
- up to 6x SARHs
- 7Ps are extremely fun and best sparrows out there
- radar is good
- RWR is good
- centre mounted vulcan
Bad:
- rather slow
- only 9Ls
- only 60x CMs dropping in pairs (tho swiss one has 120x CMs)
- 7Ps while good are still sparrows
Su-30MK2
Now, I dont have specifically that one, but Su-30MKK is the newest addition to my collection (got it as gift, perk of working in a field required even by friends playing warthunder lol) and since the Su-30MK2 is basically the same plane (im seeing same engine, same RWR, same radar; wiki says same wing loading and same weight), Its probably the best premium out there. For its current BR the kit is insane.
Tho I run it with PL-12s and PL-8Bs. Tried R-77s too but they didnt offer me what I wanted - extremely good CQB performance but good luck trying to put presure onto anyone further than 20km.
So depends. Since your soviet/russian TT is at Su-27SM anyway, such expensive top tier premium will not give you as much as one in TT you havent started yet.

Su30mk2 wont be only sale and i dont think the swiss f18 will be either but could be wrong

Well then I have great news for you! The EF gets a total of 384 countermeasures, while the Rafale gets a total of 164 countermeasures. At a glance it may look like they have abyssal CM counts, however, some planes (such as Rafale and EF) get extra countermeasures from modifications. You can see the exact countermeasure options by going to modifications and hovering over “offensive armament” (left to the secondary weapons button).
While the Rafale is an absolutely great plane to fly, the same can not be said for F-1C-200.
The F1 is good, and it would be an effective grinder, but it is not fun like your two other options. Your most effective tactic will essentially boil down to flanking the enemy and shooting your two good IR missiles for two relatively free kills, then go and rearm. Sure, you get the kills and RP, but the gameplay is not as varied compared to the two other planes, and it feels like you have little room for skill expression. If your missiles don’t hit your options are run away or pray that the enemy commits a huge mistake.
Because of that, I would much more recommend the Su-30 or F-18. Both of these planes are really good for their BRs and they allow for varied and fun gameplay. It really is just a matter of how much you enjoy ARH vs SAHR gameplay, and the corresponding tech trees. You can’t really go wrong with either of them.
I want to grind china air. J-7D or A-5C
Very informative reply. Thank you for that. However, what I understood is “what do you want your top tier jet, the one you will grind with your premium to be” and my answer (decent at ARH etc.) was for the top jet, not the premium one.
You mean like the indian Jaguar? 2 Magic 2s and then back to base with you. That plane isn’t all that great to fly.
Oh.
Then Su-30SM2 or Rafale.
Typhoon might have good FM but so does rafale and the new Su30 isnt falling behind that much, and while the AESA captor has some insane gymball limits, until new missiles arrive, youre stuck with AMRAAMs and 9Ms.
Rafale and Su-30SM2 will mog you below 15km.
Will it be as effective for A2G as for A2A? And which one is easier to use? I’ve not really used CAS at top tier since the Mig-27K was top tier for CAS.
Not on PC rn so i cant check but Rafale has FnF IR guided hammers which are rocket boosted bombs.
If Su-30SM2 has Kh-38MTs youre golden.
