Gaijin WANTS you to believe that. Because they’re too blinded by this potential cash grab to think that people would be willing to do any research in what the Super Tomcat ACTUALLY was. The F14D was a SIGNIFICANT upgrade.
Examples:
Better radar
Better jamming resistance
Better target tracking
MFDs
Better streamlining for pilot comprehension
and the list goes on
and on
and on.
you are literally a gaijin dev or you are stake holder in gaijin stock, its something
they should add another TT F14D cause ppl like you would buy all the mods with GE so you don’t destroy your beloved stats just so they dont have to stock grind
Good bible verse. Irony is that I think, and pointing the finger at myself, spending as much money on war thunder as I have… probably exactly what that verse is talking about lol
For starters - what he is saying is that the F-14D was all set up that it could carry AMRAAM’s, considering they were designed to go about 1-1 with Sparrows, the only thing stopping it was a software upgrade in which there was money set aside for it, however it was then transferred to LANTIRN to expand that.
Okay then - why don’t we talk about the 'F-15C ‘Golden Eagle’. Or, should I call it by the easier to find name - F-15 2040C. A planned upgrade package to the F-15C to basically make it a single seat version of the F-15EX and extend the models service life in to 2040. Except - just like the software program upgrade, that was funded, for the F-14D to operate AMRAAM’s - the ‘Golden Eagle’ upgrade was not pursued in this case more because of the airframes age than politics, and so the Air Force stuck with just the 2 seater 15EX’s. A tech tree variant of the F-14D with AMRAAM’s would be no different than the F-15C Golden Eagle. It would also be no different than the non-existent F-16AJ - based on an idea of Japan buying the F-16 prior to development of the F-2. Or shall we talk about the Yak-141 of which only 4 unarmed prototypes appear to have ever been built far as anything I’ve ever found. Similar story for the XF5U-1. And how many others like those - to say nothing of the inverse kinda scenarios, like the F-111A, which got pulled after accidents when it first entered in 1967 and didn’t really reach combat status till 1971, after the F-105 was retired, yet the 105 has 9E’s and the 111A has only access to B’s - and even then in 1965, 2 years before the 111A first entered anyway - began the production of the AIM-9E, and by 1967 and onwards it was those and 9B’s being remanufactured in to 9E’s.
And if any of that seems off topic - allow me to circle back to my point if it is not obvious. You have added planes that existed - but with armaments they never had, at best maybe had planned, you’ve added planes based on proposed upgrade programs not seen through, planes based on potential sales that never happened, you have given aircraft missiles they shouldn’t have and I’m sure it goes both ways between the obvious weaker ones that make no sense in most cases, and stronger ones where needed.
So - there is absolutely no reason an F-14D with AMRAAM’s shouldn’t be a thing. It should have been on the plans when you opted to add this thing as a premium - granted you shouldn’t have added it as a premium and I’m surprised no one figured out what kinda obvious backlash there would be. You’d have done better adding the F-14A that tested the AMRAAM’s as a premium and putting this in the tech tree. Or any of the blocks of F-16 between ADF and 50/52. an F/A-18 variant - single or double seat - with AMRAAM’s that can actually go toe to toe with the monsters you unleashed in the Su-30MK2 AMV and MKK that are currently obliterating everything in 13.0 matchmaking in arcade since most players who have them in arcade are setting the lineups to run them at 13.0 instead of 13.3.
Thank you @PJ_2003_TH , your reply was the one that informed me about the change 👍
I just found/noticed that the F-14D and the F-14B WILL be getting the AIM-9M’s. The original post was edited, it now states this update:
Smin also confirmed on another thread:
Further confirmed by Dev:
Just in case anyone didn’t realize, I think this change has gotten lost in the current discussion. I will most likely be preordering the F-14D now.
I made multiple replies in the last hours thinking that it was still only going to get the AIM-9L’s. I will be editing those posts with this information.
I have some “extra” stuff to sell on the marketplace. At least one or two vehicles that I will probably never use. That’s why I am probably going to preorder it.
Also, a positive change is still a positive change. I am still going to be posting and supporting further changes to the F-14D/B. I also do not think only adding the AIM-9M is “enough”. But it is a start. Keep pushing for further appropriate changes, I’ll be here for the duration 👍
they probably wont give it any more upgrades until they add a TT version thats better than the F14D, usually there is no premium better than its TT version
