No excuses of “AIM-7P couldn’t work with datalink” because (A) it absolutely did and (B) the F-14A IRIAF gets an R-27R1 it couldn’t even launch with modification IRL, instead of the R-73 it could.
No excuses of “balance” because said IRIAF sits just .3 BR above this sorry thing, with far better ARH missiles that’ll steal every single kill an undertuned regular C phoenix would’ve gotten…
And that's not even mentioning these monsters, infinitely more worth the money.
And the F-14B sits at the same BR with a worse radar (important for a BVR aircraft like the F-14) and no IRST.

Weapons in this game are a balance value, not a historical value for you.
Ah, you mean like how the SU-30s are very clearly balanced at 13.3?
The entire point of the BR system is to be the means for balance. Using fake weapon loadouts for “balance” is an admission of Gaijin’s failure to correctly utilize and decompress BR.

Balance is not only about missiles, but also about flight characteristics, acceptable angles of attack, speed, and many other characteristics.
Ah yes guys, a P51 with aim9ms at 14.3 would be very fair because it turns better than the jets do.

Yea, its value is really bad, but i am tempted to get it too, because recently playing F-14B i really like the jet.
And with better radar really fixes some weak points in the jet.
I would have liked to see aim-120 to make it a but more unique and then you can fight harder with the tomcat.
Maybe later in techtree if they change their minds.
But while its value is bad, i do want to support the game once a while, even tough i disagree with the devs a lot.
This is a game that i play a lot and while i wish it was better in many ways i do love it, and would not want it to end.

You really, unironically believe that only .3BR above aircraft like the J-8F, Tornado F.3 Late, AV-8B+, and F-4F KWS is a balanced spot for them?

Lets take a look at an actual 14.3 jet, the F16CM Pobit, considered “the worst 14.3”, the only reason it is at that br is its aim120cs and Ds which are mediocre at best. It has great avionics and speed as well but does that justify 14.3? No, it does not. The reason why people dont like it is because it doesnt have enough missiles, its vice versa with the F14D, it has a good enough missile amount but are these missiles good? Not really, especially not the aim9L.

I used to play when F-15J(M) was top-tier, ground all the way up to it through Japan. If you’d payed attention to anything other than my premium inventory while looking at my stats, you’d at least know that.
And F-4 ICE strongest 13.0? I mean, yeah, I guess something has to be the strongest out of that disappointing BR… Now can you actually address my point, as to the SU-30 premiums being inordinately better despite the small BR difference?

The f14D w/120 could definitely be 13.3 fm is as good as the su30mk’s an f16A ADF and the rwr didn’t even get improved and the f14D doesn’t even get hmd it much more of a 13.3 arh slinger then it is 13.7

I’d argue for F-14A-65-GR with 120s and F-14D with the armament it actually used (9M,7P,54C+) both being good 13.3 candidates because of the missile/radar tradeoffs.
Tell me which one is better at 14.3
