Recently, i was digging around to find information about the DM33 shell for leopards,
whilst searching wikipedia, i stumbled upon the belgian MECAR ammunition, this shell was used by dutch leopard 2A5’s and onward, so my topic is, should dutch leo’s get this shell so they are atleast a little different from the german variant
would you like to see this addition?

Adding on some info here:
- Designation: M1080
- Weight:
- Complete round: 25 kg
- Penetrator (presumably with sabot): 7.2 kg
- Length of whole round: 995 mm
- M.v. 1675 m/s
- Penetration: 540 mm RHA at 0˚
Not quite enough info for implementation in game, but it’s a start.

This seems to be an extremely elusive round. The “Tank Gun Ammunition (Europe)” source says it was developed in the 90s and an improved version was produced in 1999, but the archive of MECAR’s website from 2008 doesn’t mention it or any 120 mm tank ammunition, which seems to suggest it was discontinued by that time. It doesn’t help that MECAR was acquired by NEXTER (now KNDS France) and exists as KNDS Belgium now, so it has very little information about its own history.

Only the 2A4 is copy-paste, the other 3 are unique models.
IIRC, the only difference between a Dutch and German Leopard 2 is:
- FN MAG as both Coaxial and turret mounted MG ;
- smoke launchers on the turret;
- on the 2A4 a Dutch NVD for the driver
Doesn’t matter we are talking about gameplay not unique ness. Gameplaywise they are the exact same
Gameplay wise all MBTs are the same.
Equally poor at brawling which makes them all great against each other.
The ones with turret armor and reverse gears can snipe [2A5 and Abrams].
And every mobile tank can be squirrelly.
