Yep, in that the competition is literally only 3 missiles, 1 of them is the R27ER, and the matra 530D is slightly worse than the 7M… not that it is bad itself. The 530D still kills anybody who does not notch/go cold/multipath etc.

They very much are. Range is massively higher enabling far more shots in this long range meta.

MiG29 does not have good FM for 12.7. If you mean the R27ER then my suggestion is to start reading instead of just smacking the keyboard because we’ve been talking for a long while now how having 2 great missiles still means you have TWO great missiles

In range and thats about it. At short range where you have more chance to avoid flares, the r60 is better since it pulls harder and accelerates faster.
If I’m following someone’s 6, id rather have the r60m, else id rather have the 9L for sneaky long range shots, that sums it.
It’s definitely good, not the best but good. One of the fastest jets, and dogfight performance isn’t bad
“on the six” IR missile kills do not happen often at 12.7.The meta is radar missiles + longer range IR sneak kills

Not sure about that but im not going to open the datamine for missiles.
Thats like one scenario i wouldnt bother with R-60 launch unless im like below 1km and event then 9L performs almost the same.
R60s have no tailchase ability whatsoever.

With the r60m happens more often than the aim9L, if you time them right when you think the guy stops looking behind to analyse terrain or something else that might caught his attention

I’m not chasing people to DO THIS in the first place because I’ve either radar missiled them or stealth long range IR killed them beforehand in any other aircraft with longer range IR or adequate radar missiles. The only aircraft I end up doing this with at this BR are the MiG29 when I’m out of R27ER and the Mirages to get Magic 2 shots, but the Mirage thing is literally their niche.
I am speaking on the average air RB engagement.

The complaint with the MiG-29 is that its mediocre as all hell because of this fact of relying solely on the R-27ER to do anything at its BR. If it ever had to rely on its IR missiles or its Flight performance it gets stomped on.
This is also a big complaint with F1…

that sounds like something that would put MiG-29 as a competitive fighter on that BR, I’d be happy if they do that
Obviously would move up to 13.0, with the current stat of BR compression adding the r73, removing r27er and call it a day wouldn’t be a good solution. You have the F-16A block15 with aim9m at 13.0 for a reason and that jet doesn’t even have a sparrow

yeah, I just feedback on that and you are right, I can’t see a MiG-21 bis fighting a MiG-29, maybe 12.3 would be better by avoiding the top dogs of 13.7
