Ireland, while not having a large selection of vehicles, has a variety of unique vehicles that would be interesting to see in game if added, but if it was added as a subtree, there is going to be the problem regarding which tech tree it should go to regarding politics and Irish history, so I will discuss the three potential trees it could go to and other possibilities for it.
1: United Kingdom
This is probably the most likely tech tree for an Irish subtree to go to due to to geographical location as Ireland is basically next to the UK, and history as Ireland used to be part of the British Empire and one of the former parts of the United Kingdom until it gained independence (or at least, most of Ireland. We’re still waiting for the other six counties to join.). Along with that, Ireland has used multiple vehicles from the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, it could be fairly controversial if added to the UK tree due to political reasons, mainly regarding Northern Ireland still being part of the UK (and the discourse around a united Ireland) and the Troubles (which would be an interesting map to see in infantry).
2: France
This would be the second possible tree and would work mainly due to to the close relationship between Ireland and France in politics and history (France was an ally of Ireland and sent soldiers during the 1799 rebellion), the country having used a multitude of French vehicles in its military, and right now would be a good time to see it be added to France as the Military has stated that they have made a deal with France for a large amount of armoured vehicles from French manufacturers, possibly including the EBRC Jaguar.
The only con I can think of is that my friend hates France and wouldn’t want it added to its tech tree.
3: Sweden
This one is mainly just for a few vehicles originated from Scandinavia, or in the case of the Leyland armoured car, a Swedish turret. Also, Ireland may be potentially getting JAS 39s in the future. But this is still probably the least likely option due to the lack of vehicles that could potentially go to the tree.
4: Case-by-case basis
This should be self-explanatory, the vehicle goes to the tech tree that exported the vehicle to Ireland. And if it’s something like the AML-30 (RARDEN), it should go to the UK and French tech trees due to having major parts of vehicles from both nations (FV107 turret, AML chassis).
Conclusion
As an Irish person, I think it would be very interesting to see more Irish vehicles added to the game, mainly due to national pride and the amount of unique vehicles from Ireland (Headless Coachman, Churchill with Merlin engine, AML-30 [RARDEN], AML-90 with LRF and NVD) that could be added to multiple nations and potentially fill some gaps in the trees.
