Radar line doesn’t give as much info as a soft tws lock does it? You will need to fly straight and have many scans till you have a reliable heading cue, not to mention speed
i still can see where the guy is flying in RWS, i can see his closure rate/ speed in PDV

You’re confusing radar with HMS. HMS can be used without a radar.
What you mean to say is that F-18 and MLU have better radars, but MiG-29 has HMS, which is a big advantage in your eyes.
Back in the day I was thinking like that as well, omg Su-27 and even MiG-29 have TWS while F-15A doesn’t.
Until I got MiG-29 and realized that its radar scan speed is too slow for TWS to function properly as you would expect on F-16C for example. It loses targets pretty easily if they maneuver, because it doesn’t get updates fast enough. It’s still a nice thing to have for extra info about heading and speed, but it doesn’t make the MiG-29’s radar better surprisingly.
So we agree that having TWS is better than not
if you are unable to use a radar without TWS it is a skill issue, i never use it on the mig29 because at ranges where you need to use your radar a guy in the late phases of the match will easily defeat your r27
dosent matter if kinematically or through multipathing
in my entire 700 hours of DCS and Warthunder flying the 29 I have never once bothered with the 29s TWS

Not really. Not to go too far off topic but I’d rather have the F-4S radar with HMD over the F-14A radar with TWS. And that mainly comes down to the quality of the PD.

Yes really, F-14A and B are sidegrades on the dogfight performance. B has more thrust and slightly SLIGHTLY better sustained turn rate. A is lighter considerably, better unsustained energy retention.
