Well, the issue is that the premium F-14D uses liveries belonging to F-14D-160-GR and F-14D-170-GR airframes. These airframes are real F-14D built from scratch.
In that case, the tech-tree aircraft could simply be another F-14D with a different squadron livery, or an F-14D(R).
I understand this is a poll, but I’d love to see what the reasoning is for not wanting a researchable tech tree variant as a player. Can someone who voted “no” enlighten me?

I already bought it. Cause I want a top tier premium for USA.
However I’m mad it doesnt get 9M’s or 7P’s, no improved 54C’s (rocket motors) and neither did the F14B get 9M’s.
This feels like an insult to most players.

When I saw the leak I was dreading that it was going to be true, and this still feels like a sucker punch. I’m tired of them putting vehicles I want behind paywalls. 10 years of this BS, 2500 hours sunk into this game, hundreds and hundreds of dollars wasted, and this may very well be what gets me to uninstall. For 80 bucks I could buy the Full Fidelity DCS F-14, I could Pre-order Ace Combat 8 and not only get the F-14D, but get the F-14A as a preorder bonus. I’m fine giving a game that has kept me playing for so long some money, but it has just gotten absolutely ridiculous with the premiums lately.

IIRC, JA37DI F21(Premium) were originally named just JA37DI. Gaijin changed the name of premium JA37DI after deciding to also add it to the tech tree.

+1, F-14D(R) for Tech Tree and give both the AIM-9M, AIM-7P, and AIM-54C+. No AMRAAMs needed, those can be saved for the special model F-14A that actually mounted them.

This would be fantastic.
Wha upsets me so greatly so that there is no way to get this F-14 without shelling out $80 for wha is essentially an F-14B. No upgrades or anything at 13.3
A tech tree version that carries Aim-9M’s, Aim-7P’s, and Aim-54C+’s at 13.3 would be great. It will actually make me feel like I have a chance in a Tomcat instead of being pretty much useless.
