I knew I had a reason to be concerned when I read that the LaGG-3 family was getting “adjusted to meet the limits of the game engine” or however it’s titled.
In the past the majority of times Gaijin has done this it has involved kid gloves being put on the aircraft affected. For a quick run down…
FW190A’s used to be dynamic to fly but would stall if flown ham fisted (as it should), then it got “updated” and now you need to fight it at times to make the thing drop a wing.
P-51’s… same situation. Known for having a sharp stall if abused (and used to be the case) and now once again even if you yank the stick even for a good few seconds all it’ll do is lazily roll over instead of flicking into a spin.
P-40’s, Same as the Mustang, yank that stick and all that happens is the controls go to mush and it refuses to stall.
There’s a ton more like the P-47’s, Hurricanes etc etc but now as predicted the LaGG-3 has joined the ranks.
Before the update yanking the stick back would cause the wing to stall and if the stick isn’t relaxed it’d tumble into a spin… as almost every aircraft should in this situation.
Since the update the pulling the stick back causes the aircraft to flop like a fish until the nose is almost vertical until the aircraft finally rolls over.
Gaijin please stop with this, why are you repeatedly dumbing down flight models? You aren’t “maximising the flight model to the limitations of the current engine” as we know it was vastly superior to this before the update, you’re simply neutering them.
Although far from perfect the 109’s are using an older flight model and stall and spin like they should, if you’re wondering why for a while now P-51’s are happily turn fighting your 109 it’s because of crap like this:
Stick to the nuts and almost no repercussions… Spitfire meanwhile.
(Notice the wing drop and then immediate spin, you can see the stark differences between both FM’s).
Please with the next update work on your prop flight models so they fly more like before. RB/AB players might not notice or care but this is seriously noticeable in Sim.
