Please Improve War Thunder Optimization for Low-End PCs and Intel HD Graphics

Dear War Thunder Development Team,

I am writing to request better optimization for low-end PCs, particularly systems using older integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics 4600.

War Thunder is an incredible game, and many players love it even though they cannot afford powerful gaming PCs. Unfortunately, players using older hardware often struggle with unstable FPS, stuttering, and performance drops, even when playing at the lowest possible graphics settings.

My PC has an Intel Core i7-4770 processor and Intel HD Graphics 4600. Despite using Ultra-Low graphics settings and reducing unnecessary visual effects, maintaining smooth and stable performance can still be difficult, especially on certain maps and during intense ground battles.

I would like to suggest the following improvements:
Better map optimization: Optimize every ground battle map to reduce unnecessary GPU load, especially in areas with dense vegetation, buildings, shadows, smoke, and other demanding visual effects.

  1. A dedicated low-end graphics mode: Introduce an improved Ultra-Low preset specifically designed for older integrated GPUs.

  2. This mode could use simplified environmental details, reduced vegetation density, lower-quality shadows, and less demanding effects without affecting gameplay or competitive fairness.

  3. More consistent FPS across maps: Some maps may perform significantly worse than others. Better optimization could help older systems maintain more consistent performance regardless of the map being played.

  4. Improved Intel HD Graphics support: Please consider optimizing the game for older integrated GPUs, including Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4400, 4600, and similar hardware that many players still use.

An optional performance-focused rendering mode: A setting that prioritizes performance over visual quality could make the game more accessible to players who are willing to sacrifice graphics for smoother gameplay.
My personal goal would be to achieve 100+ FPS at Ultra-Low settings on Intel HD Graphics 4600, wherever the hardware realistically allows it. I understand that this may not be achievable on every system or map, but better optimization could potentially improve performance and reduce stuttering for many players.

War Thunder has a large and diverse player base, and not everyone has access to a dedicated graphics card. Improving low-end performance would allow more players to enjoy the game, especially those who cannot afford expensive hardware upgrades.

I am not asking you to reduce the game’s graphical quality for everyone. Instead, I am asking you to provide better optimization and more effective low-end graphics options for players who prioritize performance.

Thank you for your time and for continuing to develop War Thunder. I hope you will consider this suggestion in a future update.

Kind regards,
A War Thunder player

Son that type of intel cpu its not made for gaming.

You have to buy a gpu or update to a cpu made for gaming, like r5 5600G.

I tell you this as a i7-3770 owner. Even with an old 2gb gpu I had bad times, now Im using RX 580.

damn… im amazed that can boot any 3d games from the last 10 years at all.

thats not happening broski. 2013 integrated graphics were awful even then, let alone 13 years on where even i3 and ryzen 3s are several times more powerful

😭😭😭

I thought they’ll help me but lol

I feel like that might lag on his device, this should run smoothly:
