This was a Direct hit and it only caused barrel, one track, and one MG to be damaged?. Seriously?
Its pretty obvious that its a bug, its been around for a while, bombs that land on top of tanks only have like a 50/50 of actually killing in my experience
Gaijin’s inability to add proper HE damage was caused by the playerbase not wanting artillery tanks having the ability to have a guaranteed kill every shot. the side affects of this are of course anything that utilizes HE as the main warhead being useless unless you study every tanks’ weak spots, as overpressure is essentially the only way to kill. I personally am a firm believer that artillery vehicles should have proper HE damage, and obviously all HE munitions (bombs, missiles, etc.) as well, although putting them at a higher BR due to that. it would make sense to, considering most artillery is modern and is matched up against late WW2 tanks currently.
Dropped a 9 tonne bomb on a Leo 1, direct hit. Was fine. Kinetic energy alone should have krumped it.
Direct hits are so much less likely to kill the thing than landing it near the target in my experience. Lead ahead of targets to avoid the shenanigans that occur with direct impacts. Most reliable way to kill things is have the bomb end up under it, too much inconsistency otherwise.
The solution I’ve found is to use a 0.5s delay. The game seems prone to mess up the calculation when trying to work out impact + explosion at the same time.
Immediately before impact, the tank commander opened the top hatch and the loader opened the floor escape hatch and the bomb flew through both into the mud below and detonated 12 feet under the mud, thus attenuating the detonation.
SARCASM INTENDED!
