Please fix harrier as well
Sure, but what would be the point, would you just continue to argue with me about it? Or would you actually try and pay attention to what I’m saying this time lol
And F-14, and MiG-29, and Su27(sm) and F-2000 and and JAS39, they are all artificially nerfed
I’ll hear you out, could you point me to where the RAF pilots have said both planes are relatively equals in dogfights?
I will try my best to find the source again, I will report back if I find it
This isn’t a statement from an RAF pilot, but from a journalist from NDTV that better explains the Indian side of the Red Flag exercises, read this over while I continue to look.
“Hi … for all of you who are out there in the internet world and who have an interest in the performance of the Indian Air Force at Red Flag 2008 … I have a few remarks. As the only Indian journalist who spent a lengthy period of time at Nellis after being granted permission by both the Indian Air Force and the US Air Force, I was granted access to impeccable sources in both forces. Whats more, I was able to independently corroborate this information with reliable, alternative sources.
Several of the points I present here in the form of this post on the Bharat Rakshak forum will be compiled into an article which I will post on my company website ndtv.com. For those of you not familiar with the Indian media … New Delhi Television (NDTV) is India’s largest 24 hour news network and our website is one of the most viewed among news websites in the country. For the moment, I have decided not to do a television news report on this since I believe the contents of this post are too technical for a larger audience.”
“Well I wasn’t part of that exercise but some close friends were. The story goes both ways especially when you are engaged in friendly exercises with fixed rules of engagements! I think it’s an even fight and the man behind the machine would make the difference! Such a contest gets any fighter jock drooling!”- Gp captain Anurag Sharma, a su 30 mki pilot in his hushkit interview
I have yet to find a direct statement from RAF/USAF pilots, but what I said was rather vague and taken out of context, what I was talking about was this article I found of the Su-30sm pilot, and imo, he’s a much more reliable source than I, lol
This is a pilot account from someone on the Indian side who was also not even involved.
This is what I feared lol, there’s no point in this
Exercises always have rules of engagement and above all are training, collaboration and networking opportunity. The Typhoon and su 30 mki are both very capable aircraft in current use, and much depends on the pilot, I honestly don’t know what else to tell you
No one says they’re not capable vehicles. These exercises though are not indicative of anything because in some instances certain vehicles are handicapped, for instance an aircraft starting behind another aircraft for a dogfight. Pilot testimonies are often contradictory. It is why Gaijin uses flight model charts showing sustained turn rates or instantaneous turn rates.
Also, let’s say both RAF and Indian pilots agreed that both aircrafts are overall equal in dogfights. Then what is the SU-30SM lacking? Is it lacking in instantaneous turn rate? Sustained turn rate? Maybe not enough AoA? Maybe not enough thrust-vectoring? Or is it that the R-73 should be more maneuverable?
These pilot accounts don’t give the necessary information to properly model aircrafts.
I’d say it needs to be able to pull slightly more AOA at higher speeds, it needs to be more controllable when using the AOA button and have more sustained high AOA turns at slow speeds with its tvc and canards, and it’s needs more thrust vectoring angle when using mouse aim instead of needing to use the AOA button to use the tvc, all of these ideas listed I believe would help its flight model be more stable and consistent with real life capabilities, and for the R-73 I believe it’s bugged currently, whenever pulling AOA and launching an R-73 it doesn’t track the target at all, but no the R-73 itself I don’t believe needs any changes except for maybe the IRCCM in arcade battles.
Also, if those exercises weren’t indicative of anything, why would we continue to participate in them? Sounds like that’s just a huge was of money then🤷♂️
Most of the reason I believe it’s underperforming is the general feel of the flight model, not the stat sheet itself.
But how exactly do you know it is this and not that perhaps it needs more sustained turn rate? No sources you’ve presented stated this. So is it just your “intuition”?
And sure, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know exactly how the Su-30sm preforms irl, at least to gaijins (understandable) standards, I definitely don’t have an Su-30sm performance manual.
You asked me what I thought needed to be changed about it, did you expect me to not answer? I’ve provided many sources of why I believe this but you don’t agree with me regardless… what am I to prove to you anyways
Allegedly the flight model developers are pretty good at their job and do their job well in this game. Some aircrafts have some issues but they usually do a good job of research before putting an aircraft into the game. Gaijin has consultants whose jobs are to find materials/sources for them.
No one has it, and that’s the problem, I tried to find something but everything was always vague and didn’t give me solid numbers,
The two things with solid numbers that I found were a video and a website, both of which would be tertiary sources at most
(su30mki about 22 or 23 deg/s sustained turn rate)
