Please fix the F/A-18 and Su-30sm flight models

Most of the reason I believe it’s underperforming is the general feel of the flight model, not the stat sheet itself.

But how exactly do you know it is this and not that perhaps it needs more sustained turn rate? No sources you’ve presented stated this. So is it just your “intuition”?

And sure, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know exactly how the Su-30sm preforms irl, at least to gaijins (understandable) standards, I definitely don’t have an Su-30sm performance manual.

You asked me what I thought needed to be changed about it, did you expect me to not answer? I’ve provided many sources of why I believe this but you don’t agree with me regardless… what am I to prove to you anyways

Allegedly the flight model developers are pretty good at their job and do their job well in this game. Some aircrafts have some issues but they usually do a good job of research before putting an aircraft into the game. Gaijin has consultants whose jobs are to find materials/sources for them.

No one has it, and that’s the problem, I tried to find something but everything was always vague and didn’t give me solid numbers,

The two things with solid numbers that I found were a video and a website, both of which would be tertiary sources at most

(su30mki about 22 or 23 deg/s sustained turn rate)

I would assume so, I just believe that it’s underperforming in game, this is my opinion and I have provided sources for my belief, I’m not asking you to agree or believe me or anything like that, I just did not want to argue, I respect your change in tone and allowing me to have a respectful conversation with you, exchanging different opinions

I’ve seen these, also super vague lol, I agree!

yup, I tried my best for about 3 days researching, trying to find something that would give me solid numbers but i couldn’t find anything D:

There really is nothing definitive about these aircraft’s performance except word of mouth from the pilots, but if you ask me, that’s a pretty damn good source lol

eh, idk, i’m sure gaijin wouldn’t accept a bug report based on these sources

for example, although the website gives us 25 degrees of STR, it also says that the su30 has 1.40 of TWR and I have no idea how this is possible since the su30 is fat and the al-31fp is weak, maybe 1.40 with 10% of fuel lol

gaijin could also fix the cobra button, that thing forces horizontal flight for some reason, sometimes making aiming very annoying

Honestly, all I think it needs in game is to go back to pre nerf flight performance, have more tvc angle in mouse aim, and be more stable at low speeds, because right now the tvc is practically non existent unless using the AOA toggle, and when you do use it at low speeds it turns into a fidget spinner and goes everywhere except where you want it to go lol

Those numbers are probably based off of information with the upgraded AL41 engines, I think, and sure it’s fat, but it also has tvc and canards, just sayin

Honestly I think it’d be a good idea to implement these aircraft with their peak technology in game, like the aim120c for the f-15c and f-15e, upgraded engines like the su27sm and maybe the su30 in the future, and hopefully the 9x for the f-16 f-15c f15e and the hornet and upgraded r-73s for the Russians, maybe one day even meteors for the f-2000

but the su30mki doesn’t have al-41… that’s the problem, su30mki is from 2006 or something (you can consider su30sm also from that time, since it’s literally the same plane, excluding new fbw system and other small things that are not relevant for wt) so idk how that thing could have 1.40 of twr

Could be beefed up numbers, could be underestimated, it’s up for speculation honestly, neither you nor I can give a definite answer

Either way, this specific argument about the engines is besides my point of the post, but I see what you’re saying, it’s not decisive enough for gaijin to actually change anything about the flight model, but there are many technical things I think they could change about the aircraft and its optimization in game to indirectly help it out in flight performance, including the buggy AOA toggle and how they nerfed it like 4 times before it even reached the live server, tbh they should’ve just kept it as is🤷‍♂️

People complained about it being too good, which to me is ridiculous that people complained about a super-maneuverable aircraft being too super maneuverable, it happened to the Rafale, it happened to the F-2000, the MiG-29, the JAS39 and many others, if they decompressed the battle ratings they wouldn’t have to artificially nerf these aircraft to “balance” the game

In addition to that, I’ve also noticed that the plane’s roll rate gets neutered when it is active.

yeah, I tried to make a bug report about this, but gaijin said this:

this affects the roll rate because you keep fighting the plane’s desire to fly “straight”
it’s easy to see this, try putting the plane upside down while flying in a straight line (using the A or D key with the cobra button stil off) and let the plane return to its initial position, you will see how smooth it is, now do the same thing again but with the cobra button on, the plane just forces horizontal flight for some reason…

if this was fixed it would help everyone who got the cobra button as you could actually aim and not fight the will of the plane
