Please bring back ai gunners

I think a huge draw of this game is the simplicity of being able to come into possession of large war robots early (planes, tanks, ships) and sending them straight into valid scenarios for the way the look. How can kids and adults alike enjoy the amazing gunships if there are NO gunners that actually consistently pressure and shoot ai and player controlled enemy forces. please…

Gunners as they are currently are definitely bad. Even with a maxed out aced crew the AI doesn’t even shoot at people in their range most of the time. But I don’t want the aimbotting menaces you find in air assault that’ll snipe you with the first bullet they fire either

Blame fighter players

Trade offer between AF & NF, you get our AI gunners & we get yours… a win win as now you get ace gunners & we get accuracy via volume.

The joys of a WWI single shot 8.8 cm cannon sniping a jet going 800kmph at alt or any 7.7 mm MG firing one burst or even two bullets & ripping wings off, currently player ship AA has been incredibly nerfed over the past year but AI ship AA is still incredibly busted.

But funny that a bombers gunners no matter the size of the defensive weapon won’t fire over 200 metres yet the same weapons on a ship can fire between 500 metres & 3000 metres (or further if an AI bot ship since the nerf doesn’t effect them).

They need to add some of the recent code added to naval to balance them a bit, but yes, AI Gunners having 200m range in ARB is just stupid.

On top of that they need to remove the artificial accuracy nerfs that apply even when manually aiming

Not correct. Firing range = tracking range. The skill description is wrong…

It’s not a matter of trust, that makes sense yet bomber gunners are only lethal when you’re egressing out of attack runs, waist & ventral gunners imho are deadly under 100 metres & often oneshot foes, yet their tracking range should be further & their firing range higher.

I actually think there should a target priority mechanic similar to in NF for AF, any aircraft with gunners should be given an option for players to select enemy aircraft (& maybe ground targets for strafing) so the gunners can track a target before they open up. Also similar to NF if a player switches to the gunners they should be able to override targeting for manual defence.

Since mechanic & assets from NF are already in AF & GF, I’m surprised that the gunners haven’t gotten a similar upgrade yet using NF tools.

Also in NF tracking ranges are higher before firing ranges, I noticed a chart yesterday showing ranges from a squadron member showing the tracking & firing ranges of various weapons, so I’d not be surprised if that’s also in AF yet far smaller.

just learn to shoot them yourself, we dont need to make bombing even more of an afk method

Use the gunners manually, in this game ai has 2 options: or its incredible op and pilot snipes you easily (like ground vehicles in air sim) or it just misses all the shots or do minimum dmg. There is no point in between.

Anyway both of those options will make the community mad, so let it be as now. Not that hard to use them anyway.
