Planned Battle Rating changes for April 2024

both are very useable but are by no means meta, not even mentioning that gaijin has no real way for energy fighters that need a wide rate circle to do that effectively in RB, the Hunter F,6 is just too high, but the SRAAMs are a menace in a downtier

This is with a decent chunk of SPAA like them, as well.

Like I said, SPAA has to be either balanced off of SPAA potential, or as pseudo-light tanks. For stuff like .50cal/.30cal/some 20mms, they are very clearly SPAA, and fairly good at it.

However, most 40mm stuff, like the 40/70 or Lvkv 42, are much more suited to the pseudo-LT role, and should be balanced as such.

In exchange for worse gun and frontal armor, and no stab.

9/10 times I would rather take the sherman, especially in AB.

+it has a .50cal lol

Flarak and 975 are both significantly better than roland 1. Roland 1 is limited to 35° of vertical elevation making it completely useless against anything flying too high or too close (too high or too close)

Please downtier the Helena with the Prinz Eugen
There’s no reason for it to be purely BB fodder

And why is the T34 moving up? Once it starts facing those early panthers its over…

Even with 0 Spall, you can kill 3 Crew members in 2 shots from the side, if you aim right. that’s less than 10% of the tank’s ammo.

It is not worse than the 2S38. Better profile, much better elevation angles, much better mobility, better pen, better gun handling. The only thing the 2S38 has over it is fire rate and HE-VT with IRST, which doesn’t help much at 11.3+ anyway.

I like how the war thunder community seems much more dedicated to this game than the actual devs. “Muh statistics”. KEEP IT UP BOYS, WE WON’T GIVE UP

I will have to think more about ground and air changes, since I do play quite a few vehicles and might need some more games to get a feedback. However here are some thoughts on naval.

Le Orla/Peacock: remaining at 3.7
Not much to say about these, the OTO-Melera 76mm is like the AK47 of postwar western gunboats. Sure these are not as good as the SKR-7, but they do perform well against destroyers. 4.0 on the other hand, may lead it to see more destroyers equipped with better guns. Keeping them at 3.7 would be better. As a side note, the Orla is I think, moderately expensive compared to other coastal premiums(around 6000-7000 GE), but I brought it in 2022(8910 GE AFAIK) so cant confirm that.

HMCS Terra Nova: from 4.0 to 3.7
HE now works decently in naval, but this seems to be a bug and may be patched soon. The terra nova may be a very potent support ship with HE-VT, but it would stand little chance against destroyers at 4.0-4.3 protected with fully enclosed turrets. Additionally, inspite of its impressive AA capabilities, CAS in naval is most of the time, less than a threat.

HMS Liverpool, HMS Belfast: from 5.7 to 5.3
At 5.7, all royal navy ships are arguably the worst of the class. The liverpool being the worst shape, as she lacks APCBC to engage heavy cruisers common at the BR, and may often have engagements with battleships.

HMS York, HMS London, HMS Norfolk, HMS Kent, HMS Southampton: from 5.7 to 5.3
British treaty cruisers are often poorly protected compared to their companions, namely because this is one of the only instances in histroy where Brits actually went with their treaties. Still, this meant that all the heavy cruisers currently in game have rather poor protections. A majority if not the entire royal navys 8 inches also lacks any form of APCBC shells, making them struggle heavily against any battleships even in point blank.

HMS Orion: from 6.7 to 6.3
The orion is effectively a colossus with more secondary guns instead of AA armaments. Given the other raw stats, the HMS orion would not break the balance at 6.3, playing with a similar design.

HMS Renown: from 7.0 to 6.7
The renown lacks a 15in turret and has worse armor, and she simply should not be at the same BR as the hood, which already shows some lacking in top tier gameplays.

Caio Dullio, Lorraine, Bretagne: from 6.7 to 6.3
Despite featuring better turret designs and more powerful guns, the Caio Dullio, as well as the Lorraine and Bretagne does not have a significant advantage over their counterparts, Andria Doria and Paris. While Italy still has conte de cavour as its top brass, France would need to wait until the introduction of dunkerque to have a faceoff at top tier.

Really what is needed instead of all these bogus br changes that will just cause a new set of problems is a change to the match maker, .7 up tiers instead of 1.0 up tiers would help the game so much more and wouldn’t really hurt the que times, anyways what’s the harm in trying it on the public servers and having the community vote on it

I can totally agree with this!

I really appreciate the change they made to how range finder upgrades work in arcade battles by increasing the aiming indicator beyond 1km. It’s a great improvement for an upgrade that previously seemed useful only in RB, because in AB, there’s already an aiming indicator for helping at range, but it only reaches 1km maximum unless you have a range finder.

Similar changes need to be made for light tanks, especially those with weak guns that can only penetrate medium tanks from the side or heavy tanks from the rear. The simplest way is to make them only appear on the map or show their name tags when spotted by drones or scouting. So basically, you can still see the vehicles running around, but the player’s name won’t be visible like other vehicle types unless something scouts it and makes it appear on the map for a short duration. This way, flanking with light tanks could be possible in AB mode.

I am concerned about F84-Fs remaining at 8.3, especially with their direct upgrades, the F86 Sabers, being at 8.3 now. The F84-F and its variants now have even less of a usable role in any version of play. Both in GRB and ARB they now have strictly better competitors in every tree and lack a defined role in ARB or Naval.

The F84-F was already considered a poor performing plane once it lost its airspawn due to its inability to dogfight even halfway reliably due to its abysmal speed loss in turns, and it is unable to compete as a ground attack plane in ARB due to how slow it is. Furthermore its not even good at GRB for a dedicated ground attack role due to the abundance of ways to take it down and its lack of flares, CCIP or dive recovery.

And there is no reason for the 5.7 liverpool and belfast to engage the eugen, with a moderate rate of fire and without the APCBC that most ships at this BR has.

Return their airspawn and they would at least be plyable, since F-84Fs are only good at bombing bases in ARB anyways. Someone datamined more airspawn datas from the folders, and this may indicate that gaijin could be working on something around it.

2s38 should get a BR increase to 10.3
Why? Because its a overall really neat tank. Really neat firepower, ability to shoot air targets, but you cant forget that it has a large profile, and somewhat “bad” mobility.

292 should increase to 10.3 ?
Yes, it has a real punchy gun, because of it, its a good sniper.
Wont say 10.7 because of it having no smoke launcer and only ESS (which is useless against TVD), no TVD, any kind of mg, on top of it has the russian problems of it having bad gun elevation speed and
angles.

Turms should just stay in 10.0 or change it 10.3
gen 2 TVD and CITV is really usefull, but you cannot forget the fact that it has the same armor as the 72A.

As i seen the main issue with the HSTV-L is its post pen dmg, just buff it.

Mig-15 br decrease is neat and all, but because of this there wont be any hard counter for it.

With the airspawn they would be weak but playable if they remain at 8.3. But, without it they are one of the few literally unplayable planes in the game. They quite literally cannot do anything to score, gain points, or affect a match due to every single other plane in their tier being better than them. Hell, they can’t even 1v1 a B-29…

Most bombers are borderline useless indeed. Except for some machines like the Pe-8, Tu-2, lancasters, or SB2Cs who can act as CAS or tac nuke carriers, most of them are rather unenjoyable. However it is because gaijin was forced to change the bomber meta after how 4 Tu-2s or B-29s can win the game without even landing back.
The problem here might be solved with rethinking bomber gameplays though, changing BRs would only hold the problem for so long. There are machines at 4.7 or even 3.7 that can still make short works of PBY-4s, namely SB2C-5 and B7A2/B7A2 H-23, or interceptors like XP-50.

RB F-5E FCU 11.3>11.0
JA37D at 11.3 has 6 missiles (4 9L, which are better than 9P-4 and 2 Skyflashes with Doppler radar which are not comletely useless at this BR), ~150 km/h better top speed, good turn and BOL pods (you can just ignore enemy missiles!). There is no ground vehicles at 11.3, so this planes can’t really help Japan with its lack of CAS as well.

And don’t move down MiGs-15. Just imagine face of the spitfire Mk.24 facing MiG-15bis ISh! It’s MUCH better to move all planes after 10.0-10.3 up and increase all BRs to 13.0 or even 13.3. There is no way to actually balance these BRs without decompressing

These changes are alright but we don’t want lower BR
planes, we want the BR’s to be extended!

When will the tap hole that currently exists be expanded from the current 1.0 - 12.0 to the normal 1.0-15.7/16.0?
