I recently bought the su30mkk and the pl12s don’t seem like a good missile to me at least not better than the aim120s even not in bvr stuff but in top down shots the aim120a seems way better to me, so correct me if i’m wrong
You are wrong, they are equal to the Aim-120A/B in BVR whilst actually being good in WVR. Whilst they dont beat C5s in a BVR, its rare for that to actualy be an issue.
PL-12s are some of the stronger ARH missiles at the moment
The only difference of note in a top down situation might be the radar supporting either shot

So it’s 80 dollars for a very good missile and a radar that doesn’t support it enough to bring out it’s advantages

MKK performs really well, at least to my usual performance
I havent really played it since january but can imagine it only got better now that it cant see Rafales.
My loadout is 4x PL8B, 2x R27ET, 4x PL12s, (or i swithc those R-27ETs for additional PL12s if i feel like it) 32 flares / 64 chaff, air belts, 40m fuel
Way I play it is the same as any plane with radar missiles above 12.0.
I sideclimb to 8.5 - 9km or just below the contrail alt, gain as much speed as I possibly can, and position myself behind my team.
I try to cover them against people attacking from high alt and if i cant find any, then i go for the enemies at the deck.
I play it exactly like that, but when i’m in the perfect position seeing 3 to 4 people under me at lower altitude i fire my shots and out of the 6 pl12s i got i usually get 1/2 kills, if i’m lucky i get 4 kills i tried the same situation with the rvv-ae and they were more reliable
No, the only tech tree i have top tier jets is the US i got the f15 msip and it’s very good tbh

Yes directly above them or they are infront of me (<15km) and i’m at a higher altitude

- F-15C MSIP II being good? dang, probably the only american main that doesn’t say his nation is undertiered and it’s the worst ingame.
- ok that can be bad since u have zero knowledge about how to play Flankers, and they aren’t ez at all.

the premium Su-30s have the mobility of a Su-27 in a heavier FM, which means they are quite bad in maneuverability but still competent to win dogfights against anything that isn’t a F-18/F-16.
PL-12s are like AMRAAMs but more maneuverable (and as i know, better for long range, or im just confusing it with the PL-12A), so u should play them for close encounters (however i will admit i don’t own the Su-30MKK so i have poor knowledge about how PL-12s work).
another thing u can do and that works for me (in the Su-30SM/SM2 at least) is to fly high, soft-lock targets multipathing and launch ur missiles at ~+20º above them. with this u can make the missile lock the enemy plane without issues (since they need to lock the plane first to lock the ground after and make multipath work).
anyway u need to remember that since toptier has become popular and hard to play, many (and i truly say it, MANY) players have learnt to notch perfectly, so don’t expect ur PL-12 to hit 100% of the times.

This statement is blatantly wrong. Both AIM-120A and AIM-120B have better performance than PL-12 in BVR, by a massive margin. They have much less drag due to lower fin AoA (meaning less induced drag), less distance from CoM to CoS, smaller diametre, and lower drag multiplier (inherently less drag). They have a superior lofting profile (in the literal sense as well) and a higher length-to-calibre ratio. This is not even to mention the massive problem with the PL-12’s PID values, resulting in a tendency to wobble out of control at long ranges. This problem is not present on the AIM-120 or most other ARH missiles overall.
Please do not speak without knowing the facts, you are only lowering your own credibility.
