Piraña 6x6 HJ-8

image

History:

  • The construction of the Chilean Mowag Piraña was carried out by Industrias Cardoen and FAMAE (Fabricas y Maestranzas del Ejercito de Chile) in the early 1980s. Industrias Cardoen was a Chilean defense company, owned by Carlos Cardoen. Chile was one of the few countries that had the license from Mowag to be able to build the Pirañas locally, thus building several of these vehicles in different configurations and different types of weapons. This specific version of the Chilean Mowag carried 4 Norinco Red Arrow 8 anti-tank missiles from China. This built prototype is quite unknown to most people and information and photos are usually found in specialized military books such as Jane’s. It can be deduced that this prototype with these Chinese missiles were installed in parallel when Cardoen Industries was testing the same missile on the prototype Cardoen-Bell 206 L-III helicopter that would be used as an attack helicopter during 1988. Finally the whereabouts of this prototype is unknown.

Would you like it to be in the Chinese tree or in a future Latin American tree?

If there is a Latin American tree here, I think it is very suitable for it. China actually has its own similar HJ-8 carrier.

It is true, they are quite similar even in vehicle characteristics such as mobility
