HISTORY
The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace is one of three companies under the Kongsberg group and is a continuation of Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk. Kongsberg makes products for both defense and aerospace, and has over a number of years developed a number of very successful products such as the Naval Strike Missiles, Penguin asw to mention a few and the market leading protector series, featuring multiple families of remote controlled weaponstations and turrets , which countries all over the world have already started integrating on their vehicles and vessels even.

As a result of constant development and new ideas and to get new customers, they regularly have demonstrations where they show potential. This wagon is one of many different! It was first seen in June 2022 at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s Live fire demonstration held at the Slovenian Armed Forces main training area, Poček Training Ground just outside of Ljubljana. For this event Kongsberg had prepared some vehicles, among them was this Patria AMW with the Kongsberg Protector RT20 turret integrated. Of the videos from this event, we can see the vehicle shooting, and we can also see that airburst rounds are used with this vehicle to shoot down drones and other stuff.

The Patria AMW is built in Finland, Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace is a co-owner of the Finnish patria company with 49.9%. The AMW stands for Armored Modular Vehicle and is an multi role vehicle with 8x8. It is designed and produced by Finland and its Patria company. Development for a new modular vehicle started back in 1995, and trough the years many different vehicles were made, but around 2004 this variant of the patria was introduced and produced.

The Remote Turret 20 is the lightest and probably cheapest turret of the Kongsberg Remote Turret series witch consists of three variants RT20, RT40 and RT60 witch each has their options for equipment. This is armed with the XM813 Bushmaster chain gun as one are informed, with a coaxial machinegun wich is supposed to be the 7.62x51mm FN MAG and are mounted at the right side of the gun mantlet and has 200 ready rounds, these can be reloaded from inside the vehicle.

The main differences that i have been able to spot from the so called Earlier (2022) and the Later verison (2024), is structural changes on the “Later verison” such as the handlebars, paint and the Later varison having the Integrated combat solution installed/equipped (note the antennas). The “Early verison” is quite characteristic, with having the special looking camouflage with the PatriaAMW inscription on it, and the turret being in the olve green-ish colour.

IN GAME
In the game this would be an great vehicle, as its a highly mobile vehicle with a cannon that packs a punch, and is able to fight most of the enemies it would face, in addition to have an increased ability in fighting aerial vehicles such as planes, scout drones and helicopters with its airburst ammunition! it would serve really well in either the Swedish techtree in a Norwegian subtree or in a future Norwegian/Danish techtree
