Heya lads. I’ve created this thread just for pure curiosity as, well, there are a lot of mostly forgotten vehicles and whatnot that never saw the light of day and usually stayed only in a drawboard. This thread is made for y’all to share these vehicles/weapons :)
Ah, this reminds me of a neat paper one I’ve seen, ah found it. It is one of a handful of goofy things form Canada I’ve seen as paper.
A Grizzly with a rocket launcher for a turret.
How weird are we allowed to go…?
Airspeed AS.31 designed for specification F.35/35 for a high speed aircraft with potential as an 8 gun fighter.
I quit drinking years ago… those images make me want to pour a glass and contemplate how some people think
IML ADDAX-S, a supersonic air superiority fighter designed in NZ, supposedly to be armed with 4xOrlikean KCA 30mm cannons or 2x Vulcan M61A1.
Some interesting Chinese paper planes, like Nanchang Q-6, Chengdu J-9, Shenyang J-11(not the Sukhoi one) and… a VTOL MiG-19
Considering there’s a post said using virtual wind tunnel to make flying model in game i think we could use this way to imagine how these paper planes or these planes which never receive it’s limit (like CF-105 with PS-03A engine, which has been built but never fly)
CXP-1001
Work on its engine design was still ongoing in Taiwan until 1953. Materials in England was thrown out in 1952.
Untill i find a 80yo man in South Africa, that has a picture of it, it sits here.
SAAB PROJEKT 1805 (A-38) attack/trainer aircraft, only a mockup was made
Swedish SAAB A36
Purely designed to be a nuclear weapons carrier, never left the drawing board, as Sweden assumed the AJ37 would begin the drawing board some time after, and ultimately; its abilities were favored over the A36, as it was multi-role, and was originally planned to be nuclear warhead capable, despite never coming to fruition. (Not to mention the Nuclear program halted all together)
SAAB J27
(Modeling of the proposed plane)
The 1945 super prop that never was, based on a blended Spitfire and P-51 airframe, with a coaxial front rotor system. While it wasn’t ever built, this was, a Swedish 31 SuperMarine Spitfire.
Shown again here in the Swedish air museum
Had 2 liveries, the tealish color is one, and a darker blue is the other.
J-35 MOD 4, the draken with c a n a r d s
That’s really cool, I wonder how it would fly / what it’s characteristics would be like
It was to have a 24 cyl H type engine. Retains a smooth skinning, long frame design of the sptifire, with more aerodynamic cockpit and stabilizer of the P-51.
I’d say it would fly the same, if not better than the Spit Mk.24
The altermative F-15
Fairxhild FX
Pre-Warthog evolution
SAAB P1642-06 B3LM
Swedish prototype, to assume the JAS role, similarly like the Gripen. Never left the drawing board, very similar to the A-10, except this one says Bjjjjorrt instead or Brrrrrrt.
JA37 variant “Pheonix”
Translation: “After Viggen comes the pheonix! From the ashes of a tough political battle rises the victor: the super bird Phoenix!”
Unknown if even drawn up, but looks really dope.
Simply by design, I’d have to assume it’s the next generation, similar to the JAS39, looks a lot like the F-16 and YF-22 mixed.
Unknown by many right now (because of how new it is) SAAB is starting the first domestic stealth aircraft project, really looking forward to seeing the outcome. Dubbed the FS2020
