Panzer III turret rotation speed

This is the misunderstanding… it wouldn’t. The gears aren’t differential, there’s no addition, the diagram upthread proved it. If the loader with the cyborg arm is cranking his own gear super fast, that would mean both crews gears would have to be BOTH turning at 6 rotations per second, not two independent wheels turning at three. Turning either crank at any speed will also rotate the other crank at that same rate of rotation, they’re geared together. Which means if one person’s gear gets up to 3 or 4 or 6 rotations per second the other gear is also turning at that same rotation. At a certain point, even if there’s zero resistance, you are no longer able to add force because the thing is just spinning so fast and not long after that it’s just going to fly out of your hand.

So if you were to agree that three turns per second is the max possible a wrist can still turn a crank and still apply significant force to the crank, then that puts the max traverse at 3x the turn of the dial, which would be 12 degrees per second. Anything faster assumes a linearly faster rotational rate by both crank turners.

I never sayed id agree with you. And i cant be bothered to take a look at this topic anymore.

Well you can make a bug report, using that.

In the previous reports it was estabilished, based on secondary sources, that the Pz III and Pz IV have auxillery traverse wheels for the loaders.

It was then argued that the vehicles traverse should be a increased based on the loader helping the gunner.

However, the loader can’t always help the gunner and the theoretical increase in traverse rate depends whether it’s just due to the loaders different gear ratio or some some mechanical advantage.

Based on the diagram the traverse for loader and gunner should be the same, unless there was something going on that we don’t know about.
While on the Pz IV the loaders wheel is directly connected to the turret ring with a 2.6° turn rate compared to the gunners 1.9°.

Ultimately the information could be obtained from any museum that have a Pz III in their collection.

Like I said, I don’t see the point for the Pz IIIs, if they’re off reality now, they’re not off by any significant-to-the-game amount. The only one that’s in the realm of ludicrous now is Pz III B (and Pz IV J, which at 4 hand cranks per second with loader assist sustained is also rather silly to imagine, but that’s another thread). Again, we’re just repeating ourselves now.

Jarms where do you get the 3 turns per second figure? Just got the Tetrarch manual myself and now looking into trav speeds.

That’s all dependent on crew skill. The manual only states the traverse distance per wheel turn.
