Hi, I need some advice because I don’t know if it’s a bug in the game, if I’m doing something wrong, or if it’s just WT being WT. I’m playing the Pantsir SM-SV and I have a problem with targeting.
Situation: I have an aircraft locked, I fire a missile and manually guide it. About 15 meters behind me there’s a Buk that also fires a missile, and my Pantsir suddenly turns and locks onto that missile that just flew past me, even though I have an aircraft targeted and locked.
Or I have an aircraft locked and it starts dropping chaff, and the system switches to the chaff like WTF. Old Flakpanzer or ADATS don’t do this like, what the hell.
maybe cuz the BUK’s missile is huge and it’s way more near than the plane? maybe cuz it’s flying in front of u so the tracking system switches to the BUK’s missile thinking it’s the enemy plane?
First of all, the missile was about 20 meters away from me, and because of it my turret suddenly rotated almost 90 degrees.
Chaff only works against the Pantsir. It doesn’t work on any other manually guided AA—you can throw it even at trucks and the aircraft will stay locked, like with the entire Flakpanzer family, ADATS, etc. Everything you guide manually simply doesn’t switch lock to chaff.
Yes, with automatically guided systems it can mess things up, but that’s handled by the game, not the player.
would have been better if u added that to the main topic instead of explaining the situation with zero context.
erm, no?
anything that’s manually guided can be fooled with chaff, if it wasn’t then things like ADATS and FlaRakRad would be exageratly OP, but they aren’t, right?
if the enemy drops chaff and ur radar switches to chaff cuz the enemy plane did a successful notch or whatever tf they do, then ur missile will obviously go for the chaff since that’s what ur radar is locking.
the player is also a key variable in why or not did the missile failed.
