I want to know what was so bad with the Buk that this vehicle was added
Well, main issus are slow as F… update rate on radar, leading 4s blind spot , so it makes it really easy to avoid and dodge. If you think iris is big, this is even worse, and not having vertical launch makes it nearly impossible to hide. Unlike iris what you can park right behind a building.
Missiles are awesome on paper, but in reality… lets just say they are missiles. They got huge payload, and should have 25m proxy , but in usage it feels more under 10m proxy.
if sturmtiger is situational vehicle this is that even more.
Well the radar vehicle is HUGE and slow refreshing rate. The missile can be notched or multipath easily. Only works in long range. Sometimes it radar will refuse to lock that target and keep tracking a ghost target that never existed. The missile will also sometimes decide to smash in to the ground instead of flying in to the sky intercepting that space climber.
Everything I can agree on: slow search rate, big blind spot almost >180° and very noticeable silhouette except however issues with the radar may be found in other systems such as the japanese Tam-SAM Kai, given that it also has a one-sided search radar with moments like losing track of target, tracking into nothing and so on.
Least that gets ir missiles to use on it also, even small compensation for slow scan rate, and it sits in 12.0 instead 12.7
what i noticed was that, despite the bukk’s TELAR’s having one of the best radars in-game, players didnt use it at all. They depended on the slow fat ass radar of the tads to find targets (which failed ofc) driving the bukk’s stats down. (like konstant was complaining about)
In theory the bukk is a great anti air but its players didnt substitute its downsides for the advantages they had ,so gaijin is hand hondling russian AA again.
It also doesnt help that it had a higher skill floor compared to every other russian AA and other multi-vehicle sams so the average hold W gamer couldnt use it well
They could always solve this by giving Pantsir-SM-SV the dual faced radar… or by just removing the “SV” from it and adding in the cooler Pantsir-SM.
I personally don’t think Pantsir-SM will replace Buk-M3 completely specially at long range engagements where losing visual of the target means losing the target completely until it’s visible again. Given that the Pantsir-SM has three optional missiles, it will certainly excel as a short-medium range (<20 km) support vehicle, apart from the issues, Pantsir-S1 radar is good. With an improved version hopefully the issues with the current vehicle in the LiveServer is fixed with this new one.

yeah that’s the only positive side on it.
Shame that launchers radar is seriously limited by width and hight. And it also relies that you can see targets or someone pings em. ( yes I do use it especially against helos)
Just point it towards their air spawn. with how terrible ground maps are, you should see them immediately they spawn, unless they use the AF (rare)
pretty much every ARH anti air defense is not very great in WT… the reason that the bukm3 can do just a little better is probably from the launcher… the launcher have a better radar.

If you spawn it first , before there is anything flying in there.
And then you ignore helo spawns most of maps.

Exactly the same as the suggestion, the 57e6M missile is a kinetic warhead missile letting it have more room for propeller fuel (literally pic) same thought-process as Patriot PAC-3 kinetic warhead
better propeller = more speed, just because it is russian it doesn’t mean it’s automatically bullshit, that’s mere physics…
Well the issue is that gaijin has shot down many suggestions due to non reliable sources and for something at top tier, credibility of a source is more important, because a lot of places will say System Y has technical specifications X while the reality is that it is only 60% of X, also that forum posts lacks sources that mention the speed of the main new missile
that’s true, but again looking at the pic it makes sense it is sensibly faster from the non-M version as it has longer propeller
The only source I can find about the speed of that missile is the Wikipedia page on the Pantsir. The Wikipedia page links a news article (that has been since taken down) that is written by a Russian political figure.
looks =/= performance, while yes it is more propellant we do not know at what rate it burns which means we do not know the final true velocity, we also would need to know the mixture of fuel in the booster, I do enjoy SPAA but the speeds of the new one are rather high that make me question sources
indeed i’m not saying it is 100% true, but it’s probably the same one the suggestion used presumably, but even so it makes sense it is faster
