Panther II vehicle changes

Sources please, I’ve only seen 7.5cm plans. Which is the one I provided, plus an earlier one I need to find.

It’s not a Tiger 2, but it now has 60mm of side armor and 100mm of frontal armor (without weakspot), this is very significant for a medium tank, especially since its frontal armor is angled.

Ok, for 1, where did you find that book? And second of all, does the book use any reputable sources?

Panther II mit 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 (Fake Tank) - Tank Encyclopedia.

Not to mention the entire point of the Panther II was to make a heavier, better equipped, and more mobile Panther variant, by that book, it’s literally just a normal Panther.

The Panther II mit 8.8 cm Kw.K. 43 L/71 was essentially impossible, as the Panther II project was killed off in May 1943, whilst the earliest known drawing for a Panther fitted with an 8.8 cm Kw.K. 43 L/71 gun is Krupp’s drawing (drawing number Hln-130) which was from 18th October 1944.

Okay, so where is this Panther II with 8.8cm?

The book is Panzer Tracks 2006. Says it in my image.

Yet again, you’re talking about this, a different tank.

Wow, so it’s a scale modeling book from 2006, I’m sure that’s a real reputable source.

Pretty sure you’re confused. This topic is about the Panther II. I’ve been talking about the Panther II. Why are you even bringing up the Panther 8.8?

Oh brother.

Yes, it was me who brought it up, totally not you.

^

Sure, me.

Here it is from a real war museum since you think it uses the 7.5cm gun

At no point was Panther 88mm mentioned here, but we are talking about the real project.

Correct, and I never brought it up, he did, after I stated the Panther II was planned to use the 8.8cm KwK as he stated “you must be confusing the Panther II with the Panther 8.8”

If you bothered doing a reverse image search you would have found out that the hull of that tank is the Panther II with a Panther G turret on top of it but considering you didn’t bother doing any form of research before typing out of your message it had told me you decided to write first before double checking.

Besides that I once again have to state, that the blueprint Panther II you have posted does not exist. Have a nice day.

Was this reply meant for me, because none of those images have the Panther II with the G turret as it is now at Bovington.

Like how the Tank Museum claimed TOG had 17-Pdr for decades when all the had to do was measure the barrel? When they reinforced the myth that Churchill AVRE had a 290mm Petard when it’s 230mm?

The actual historical images on that site are all 7.5cm.

There may have been plans to arm the Panther II with the Schmalturm found on the Panther F. However, on February 27, 1945, Krupp and Diamler Benz began colaborative work to rearm the Schmalturm with an 8.8cm gun. Which is the Panther 8.8cm, not Panther II.

Panther 2 was never planned to have an 88mm cannon, the Panthernum turret design was done months after Panther 2 was canceled

Yet again you all refuse to read

G turret is just a placeholder since a turret for it was not produced, in the real project it was supposed to be a turret similar to Panther F with 7,5cm canon

I literally quoted the relevant section. “May have been plans” they don’t know, they’re guessing.

“However, on February 27, 1945, Krupp and Diamler Benz began colaborative work to rearm the Schmalturm with an 8.8cm gun.” This section is Panther 8.8cm as stated, not Panther II. Panther II project was already cancelled by then.

Also, you claim Panzer Tracks isn’t valid but they’re also using images from it. This is the second Panther II turret, still a 7.5cm.

Yes, the one of which they didn’t decide to use, yet again, making the 8.8 the intended primary armament.

Okay, where’s the drawings of the Panther II 8.8cm turret?
