Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Brimstones can be launched and can fly up into the launch aircraft and blow you up had it happen multiple times now

r27er is unreal how is coded actually, the sustainer start at the same time of the engine and gets crazy fast, super early.
R27ER > supertemp > aim7F

the only problem I encounter with the super temp is that after 10/15km it gets easily avoided compared to the AIM7F.
this beauty is still my favourite plane <3.
You can still fight at 13.0 in sim (obviously, you need to face fox3…) but the radar and the RWR are pretty good, even compare to 12.7 airplanes.

Since I finally got my flight stick last week, I’ve been using the F3 in 11.7-12.7 sim when I’m bored of the F14B, and it perform very honestly in that BR spread. I rely hugely on radar and RWR performance in sim (I’m blind as a bat otherwise), so Tornado with the solid missile loadout and excellent radar is really good IMO. The only planes that compares in that BR spread are the F14B (it’s still 12.7 in sim somehow) and the Mirage 2000 (still 12.3 somehow).

In 13.0 matches I use the Sea Harrier FA2 however. It’s incredibly deadly.

About the ER, I looked at sensor views of my replays, and at sea level, the difference between the supertemp and the ER isn’t as big as I expected. For a 8km shot, the ER gets to mach 2.5 or something like that when the Supertemp gets to mach 2.3. It’s still significant enough of course to make the difference, and the ER has four time the range, but it’s more narrow than I expected. (I used arbitrary number, I don’t remember them exactly. The main thing tho is that the ER keep accelerating while the Supertemp reach its peak speed quite fast)

Something I don’t get, did they break the PGM again? If you launch it from an altitude of two thousand meters, it will just crash into the ground long before reaching the target. Where is the ‘range of 15 km (9.3 mi) at low-level’?

20km. It should be 20km.

Honestly it feels like PGM has no sort of control system/guidance most of the time lately. I’ve had my PGM lock onto a target at 8km that hasnt moved stayed still and not smoked and for reason they just fly off in a straight line into the horizon don’t even attempt to go to the target

Only had one match so far where I got enough SP for GR4 with PGM-500s, fired off 4, none hit. Couldnt be bothered to go look at the replay afterwards, but at least 2 I was reasonably confident would hit. But didnt. So there might be something off.

But defo needs a bug report vs Carriers, they straight up dodge the carrier

Sometimes it happens to me, but my guess is because I change the camera by accident before I lock, so it doesn’t lock where the TGP/seeker was looking before.

I normally take 3 with a TGP and it seems to work fine, though I have noticed once or twice not tracking a target properly.

That was fired with the FLIR so maybe FLIR issues.

Normally id just take PGM-2000 + TPod but hadnt gotten them unlcoked yet so decided to try the FLIR + 4x 500s

My low kill rate with them in the gr1 is usually because SPAAs can intercept them so easily, being slow and making a lot of smoke for a long time before burning out.

Yeah, that was my finding in the GR1 too. I think my record was 3x Sorties firing 9x PGM-2000s at the same Pantsir, all 9 were shot down.

Only if the GR4 ever carried a much smaller FnF missile, that wouldnt be quite so easy to shoot out the sky… Hmm…

I really wanted to test brimstones but I can’t bother grinding 400k anymore + the stock grind, I’m really preparing myself in case a Typhoon comes, but even then it will be painful haha
Just haven’t been having fun in this game the last few weeks.

Im not having as much fun in the GR4 as I would have hoped. Its 12.7 Sim BR is just brutal and I tried to play it today and was just shot down by Mig-29s long before I ever get close to targets. Brimstones also being unusable in that mode really doesnt help either

I can see the potential in GRB, but the ground line-up that goes with it is just so bad, that I rarely get enough SP to even spawn in any aircraft, let alone a GR4 with all its A2G. I’ve been working on spading the DW and unlocking the Scimitar so I can just scout my way into it. But its very slow going.

Typhoon will be a breath of fresh air if it comes, but I also fear what state it will be in

Believe it or not I’ve found much easier getting SP using the VFM5 at top tier than any of the challys, just constantly scouting and getting some kills occasionally. Even with the Desert Warrior I’ve been having some kind of success depending on the map.

At the very least it will be as good as an F-15E, so I’m not that worried about it. Just hoping I can beat the crap out of my french main friend’s Rafale lol

VFM5 is another i have yet to unlock. Gunna work on it at some point. But I’ve got most of that line to unlock

And yes, as do we all :P

Well… managed to get into the GR4 in a match ,vs 4 Pantsirs, did get my PGMs off, but no kill, so I assume they were shot out the sky, was dead 30 seconds later. Respawned in an ADATS, immediately killed by an Su-34 firing from 15km

It’s been the average experience at top tier honestly, but it’s just harder with an absolute boat

Unless you are playing with the soviets, then you can CAS from 5km away and nothing will really hurt you. Just had a match like that

If your flying the Tornado GR4 and not turning away gaining distance and altitude your playing it wrong in GRB. I get about 33km away and about 9km altitude fire off PGMs once I’m at near Mach speeds then proceeed to stay high above the battlefield firing off my brimstones. That way anti air can’t get you unless you fall into range of a strela or ozelot etc by the time I’m over the battlefield I’m at about 12km altitude. Allows me to dive straight down fire off brimstones and gain a load of speed and energy to then level out and then once target splashed pull up gain altitude again I never drop below 7km ish alt in the dive.

Avoid all pantsir, ITO, Flakrakrad, adats by doing that.
