Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Question: How do I get AIM120B without spending GE on an aircraft with only 2 AIM9L 30-round countermeasure that is not capable enough to make a standard Notchback maneuver to evade fox3

Start a game, fly, maybe kill something, ground or air, die, repeat.

I would say fly to the side and zoom in, but at these brs people can see you on radar on takeoff pretty much, and as soon as your spotted even slightly away from the group you will be chased to the ends of the earth untill your dead, usually by 3 to 4 guys all at once using up way too many missiles for it to even be considered worth it.

Did anyone notice that Tornado F.3 and Tornado F.3 Late have different internal countermeasure dispenser? Is this suppose to be bug or it’s actually historical?

Tornado F.3 Late (12.7)

Tornado F.3 (11.3)

It is (I assume) intended. Tornado F.3s were fitted with the AN/ALE-40 as an emergency modification before the First Gulf War and at some point (I want to say during one of the Balkan Crisises) these were replaced by the Vinten Vicon countermeasure pods

Hopefully I haven’t made this all up to get my head blown off for lying 😂

If you’re really generous it makes it a 1992~ Granby F.3 that’s part way through it’s upgrades.

Chaff has hit the dev server;

Now before everyone freaks out that its not 600 per pod, this is correct.

600 packets “maximum” is for the standard calibre chaff at 40mm.

Since we’ve gone with the big 80mm packets for large calibre that cuts the count down but massively increases the effectiveness.

Excellent stuff, so happy to see this on the tornado now.

Yippee, tornado will be a lot better.
It’s more than enough chaff with the LC so its great to have the more effective ones.
Good step in making the ground attack variants viable in air and ground battles, now we just need the FM fixed :D

Brilliant, the fact its large calibre as well just makes it that little bit more effective, and 680 packets is still far more than enough

  • the 680 big ones are in game äquivalent to around 5000 normal chaff since its x5,5 for big chaff

yeah I know, that’s why i said it was better

I’d far rather have half the CMs but more effectiveness

Finally Great work

Damn that’ll be a great buff, and good timing now that the split countermeasures change from the roadmap has come through too.

Finally. Now we just need Gaijin to realise that BOL isn’t 3g of warm toast and 2g of iron shavings.

I don’t envy whoever has to deal with that, if they make it historically accurate (flare packs covering a large area) it’ll make things with BOL basically immune to most IR launches
