Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

If feels better for sure but imo the speed bleed with the wings folded out is a bit too extreme.
Imo the reduction in energy retention does not correlate with the slightly increased pull but haven’t tested the numbers yet.

Instead of a whole new aircraft I’d just petition to give the f.3 late the 106, it’s already an amalgamation of multiple aircraft at different time stages with 9M/Aim120 at the same Time.

any extra thrust is well worth it, that or just give us the extra 5% war power.

Played a few games with the new FM and have to be honest the way the Tornado plays the loss of engine power really hurts it. Yes it’s great to be able to crank in BVR and try to defeat BVR missiles.

With the massive influx of J-10 players the games are low on the ground and losing that thrust and power weakens the Tornado. I hope Gaijin can do something to buff the thrust/engine war power to give us the speed we have lost back.

As stated by gunjob, the flightmodel is final now and they aint touching it again

The engine lacks WAR power uprating, to fix the lack of top speed caused by the otherwise better flight model, they could brute force it by increasing the thrust, which would not be changing the FM really.

Didn’t realised it was Glider Thunder, thrust is part of the flight model.

It is a little interesting that they didnt take the Harrier solution to the Tornado new FM and just give it more thrust than it may have had IRL to match its IRL flat line speed. Its surprising that has such an impact on the rest of the FM.

Though I guess the hope is that if/when we get combat thrust. It will be slightly overtuned to make the up the difference lost with this new FM

Tech mod leaking 2025 april fools event on the forum, not nice…

That actually sounds like fun. Really good gliders with guns, that are dropped at 100k ft (no reduced atmosphere) or something and you have to dogfight as you fall :D

The other angle is also really good

But yes, if I was given a choice tomorrow between 100% fully modeled Brimstones on the Tornado Gr4 and the Typhoon with current top tier AAMs…

Tornado Gr4 would win every single time. Not by much, but would win

I’d take a harrier with brimstone over the Gr 4 but if it was Gr4 or eft, I’d take Gr4.

Blasphemer, Tornado anyday. The only harriers we need are more sea harriers, or the gr 9 i guess…

Tornado’s cool and all. But harrier.

Its a tough call.

If choosing between Harrier Gr9A with Brimstones or Tornado Gr4 with Brimstones

The Harrier can actually fend for itself if attacked and things like STOVL in sim can be really fun. But… to employ those weapons, especially in sim and assuming even a slightly high BR like 12.7 like the Gr7 is at, it is really hard to disengage. Ive found that in both the Gr7 and FA2, if I over-extend even slightly, even if I get a load of kills, there is a good chance something like a Mig-29 would have time to respawn, take off and gotten back to where I am before im even half way home.

At least in the Tornado Gr4 I can sneak in, unload my weapons and be out of the AO before most even know im there.

So that would edge the Gr4 out ahead of the Gr9A, at least for me in Sim.

Tornado also has an edge in that it can have the whole gamut of Brimstone variants, not just the original MMW one.

And also a ground radar to slew the missiles to.
