Just made a biggest mistake of my life, decided to grind the new tornado with the old one, since I have a talisman. 11.7 btw.
A picture:
1)Everyone has bombs and napalm, so your only job is done because everyone is also faster.
2)2x9Ls at 11.7 is very funny
3)Flight model is a complete cow barn
4)Even max fuel isn’t enough for some maps
Same. They are nice, infinitely better than brimstones but with all the new SPAA at 12.7 a Tornado at 12.3 is not it. Especially since the amount is kinda limited with 4 hosbo max, 3 if you want a pod
I just realized that Tornado is the most festive plane in the game. Just think about it.
1)You pose no harm
2)You bring presents
3)You can throw confetti throughout the whole game
The only difference with the old guy on a sleigh is that he has a better flight model.
Though been messing about with the Sea Eagles in the GR1 (the weakest of all the Tonka IDSs) and its fine. 9Ls suck, but otherwise ive been getting bases just fine and the odd kill
Has anyone noticed that the (German) ASSTA1 Tornado got a updated cockpit?
It now has the correct Radar Display (left) and RWR display (right) but also the new PHDD (big center display) that was only introduced with ASSTA2. So now we have an ASSTA1/2/3 mixed Tornado.
gaijin honestly sucks when it comes to german tornados. I really wished that the SLE didnt get the brimstones (why would it? its not historical) and got the AIM-120 that was actually tested with the SLE and would make it unique
imo i think that the “assta 1” at this point should just be renamed and treated like assta3
In a book Modern Combat Aircraft 6: Panavia Tornado by Bill Gunston, Page 110 of Appendices there’s a section that states that the Tornado IDS family were cleared to carry “virtually all free-fall tactical bombs of the RAF, Luftwaffe, Marineflieger, AMI, and USAF and Navy, napalm, at least five types of high drag bombs; all available rocket pods; Mavericks”
I’ve omitted other weaponry that does not exist in the game currently or is likely to never be introduced.
Unfortunately the book does not cite where it got its sources from for those. I expect it to be very hard if not impossible to find visible proof as I believe such weapons were only test fitted and were not historically selected for use in theaters.
Funnily enough, the Tornados ingame actually have a rocket CCIP despite none of them currently have unguided rockets in their arsenal. Perhaps this was a leftover from development or perhaps something more?
In any case, I’d love to find other info on it…
In in-game scenarios where you have WW2 era vehicles fighting against and alongside vehicles of the modern era, what would War Thunder say about Alternative History?
Kormorans got added to the other Tornados on the dev server. No longer exclusive to the old event MFG Tornado
WTD61 and the Italian (pre-1995) IDS got AS.34, and all later models got AS.34 II
