So I made a post a long while ago and I attached a clip to it but medal only let me capture 15 second clips so it didn’t show the whole engagement where I did many of the things people told me to do in the replies. This time I recorded a full match that shows my gameplay start to finish. From what I have seen in YouTube tutorials and what people have told me, I have no idea what I’m doing wrong if I am doing anything wrong at all. So once again I’m asking for help because I want to be able to play the game with the cool airplanes, but I am getting so mad and frustrated that I hate air rb more than I have hated any other video game that I have ever played.
Here is the video (I did crash into the ground at the end on purpose):
It’s not entire what you asked for, but I recommend giving Air Sim a try. Planes like P-47 function much better in a sim environment over RB. I don’t personally fly the -47, but I see a lot of good players do it and do quite well with them.
WingalingDragon, Captain Squishface, IdahoBookworm, Sheriff’s Sim Shack, Requiem/Air Combat Tutorial Library all provide different insights into getting started/learning. (Reqiuem & Wingaling for basics, Idaho for american plane reviews, Squishface for 1 vs 1 dogfighting and also plane reviews.)
If you don’t have HOTAS or VR or anything, don’t fret. Mouse & Keyboard works just fine - here’s my own control setup: WT Live // Controls by RunaDacino
Things that make american planes work better in sim than RB:
Instructor. The instructor massively hampers a lot of american (and german) aircraft’s ability to use their amazing instantaneous turn rates and does not really know how to use rudder properly leading to planes flopping around like dead fish. This does require knowing how to fly without it, but it’s worth it.
Markers. Lack of markers in sim makes Boom & Zoom way more potent with the ability to ambush enemies before they realize they’re dead.
64x64 map size with objectives spread AND 60-180 minute long matches with respawns out gives you time & space to climb without your team dying 5 minutes in leaving you the impossible task of soloing an 1 vs 8
Teams. ARB is full of people who are only there to grind planes to use in GRB and/or are rushing jets. This leads to very selfish and suicidal gameplay. If you genuinely enjoy propeller/WW2 brackets and want it to be your main course, SB gives you people who feel the same and thus are much, much more likely to cooperate and coordinate with you. WingalingDragon even has an LFG discord set-up for pick-up squads so you don’t fly solo!
I do hope you get RB-specific advice, but I do really mean it: If you want to enjoy american props, give SB a try!
…in which i saw you dying late match to an A6M3 which was totally unnecessary.
I saw that you still have issue with climbing at optimal climb speeds - and 2 kills vs 18 deaths in the 4.3 US P-47 looks like that you have not really understood the feedback and good advises in your first thread:
It boils down that even in the most favorable circumstances like in this match (see my replay link) you are unable to make the right decisions.
I mean you played 2 vs 3 fighters (2 Spits on/near their small airfield) and A6M3 retreating to his large airfield - all enemies were below you & the P-51 and you were unable to kill one of them.
Things won’t get better like this, so i am not sure what you expect - decision making in itself is basically just a risk assessment. So as soon as you see a Spit landing or getting severely damaged and landing on their small airfield you have to kill the Spit. Full stop. No excuses if you play vs Spits and A6Ms as these rat planes can’t kill you because they are too slow.
Post the replay link of the match you mentioned in your OP.
I didn’t attack the either of the spitfires while they were landing because I assumed I would get ripped apart by airfield flak. Also just saying that I didn’t make the right decisions is pretty vague, could you like specify what decisions I should have made?
hey dude so the Key to playing P47 is making the fight at around 20,000FT as P47 looses zero engine performance at altitude so playing high is your best bet esspecially against yaks it works well best High alt fighter for its rank
There is no af aaa on the small forward airfields.
In other words - both Spits were free kills.
Right decisions:
As long as you play a local 2 vs 2 versus slower opponents your main goal is to maintain your energy advantage whilst you play bait and switch. That works usually pretty well even with random strangers.
As soon as the 2nd Spit got severely damaged by the P-51 all you had to do was to kill the Spit whilst he was repairing on the small af. The remaining two guys in a Spit & A6M can’t win vs a P-47 and a P-51.
You over-committed vs the A6M3 - and were more or less a stationary target whilst being in his gun range. If your excess energy is not high enough you have to use BnRun = High speed attack runs using superior speed and running away.
i mean. sometimes its just plane bad. Like Kfir Canard that requires a lot of luck and a huge amount of skill just to be half as effective as MiG-23 or F-5 FCU.
From what i can tell, the Thunderbolt is good enough for ground realistic to have same effectiveness as attacker and as fighter. But at air realistic, its pretty hard to play. Especially for less engaged players. Especially for those who want more action.
Id just recommend to switch to a Mustang or KingCobra, and keep the P-47 for ground battles.
Yes, that’s the main reason why i enjoy playing it.
The fellow player received highly valuable input in his first thread - it is up to him to do his homework - he got warned that a P-47 is not easy to use in Air RB.
@Dapper187 : Just post the replay link from the official replay site - or just post the name of the map and the match duration.
well, i might agree if it was something unique for the game. For example, the J7W1 - the SHINden, is a unique plane, and it’s toughness supports your interest. But the Thunderbolt? It hardly offers you something that Mustang does not if we talk about Air Realistic. So i dont see a reason to use supposedly worse, meaning the requirements of effort to do the same amount of farming, plane…
