Would be cool to see this in February’s “passed to developers” entry

I’ve seen these pictures online but they say it’s the cheetah turret (dutch spec gepard turret) on the palmaria hull but to my untrained eye it looks the same as what u guys are saying here, is it just different names for the same parts or something like that?

when will gaijin put this in the monthly suggestions?

40/70 is at 6.0 mainly due to its anti-tank capabilities. I think they could make Sidam much better now with the introduction of multiplatform SAMs, adding something like M113-based radar vehicle Italy used irl with Sidam-25.

is there a photo of the sidam radar?
Then I don’t think they will put it because we are a minor nation and above all we are Italy and it is an old vehicle

I don’t have access to the devs, but I understood that if you lose the radar vehicle, you die, whereas if you lose the SAM launchers, you don’t. How would the SIDAM work with the radar vehicle under this mechanic? Do you drive around with an M113 with the radar and leave the SIDAM somewhere, or the other way around? It seems like an unnecessary complication — it would be enough to just add the OTO Melara OF-40 SPAA (ATAK-35) or the Romanian Gepard, or the one tesed by the italian army, that has it’s own proposal, to solve the problem.

the problem is that OTO Melara OF-40 SPAA ATAK 35mm is not a vehicle passed to the developers instead the KF41 Lynx (OUR) passed in May which does not make sense for several reasons.
1- too new (maybe not even finished)
2- we already have a Hungarian KF41

P.S.
do not compare the SIDAM to this

Nah if the vehicle can work without radar, you can still use it, it is already implemented for Japanese SAM.

IMHO this is a pointless complication just to get a bit of help for a modest 8.3 anti-air. They notoriously don’t spend a dime on Italy, so if they really wanted to, they could just copy-paste the Gepard or something similar. But seriously, how many problems does a player have to go through just for a vehicle at 8.3…

There are 2 possible radars which can be used, both are based on M113.
Shorar and Rascal.

here’s an improvement like that, there could be some but they’ll never do it (but I hope I’m wrong)

Hippity hoppity, I’m joining your property.
(I will post it in a discussion about multi-vehicles AA)

I remain skeptical. Adding a radar support vehicle to the SIDAM 25 might offer some advantages for detecting targets beyond its effective engagement range, but considering its limited range of about 2.5 km—with rounds that self-destruct—it doesn’t offer a substantial benefit. Especially when Gepard’s radar-guided 35mm cannons have an effective range of 5.5 km. There are also the 60 APDS rounds, but they are very limited. So why add a radar support vehicle? The ATAK-35 turret offers overall better performance.

PRTL should be more interesting yes and its addition would improve Italian TT a lot, on the other hand such buff for SIDAM-25 would be for sure welcomed, like you basically get information from radar (destruction of which won’t be lethal for you + instead of one SIDAM box can get 2), another buff could be the one proposed from long ago IFF antenna + SAPHEI-T belt.

Do we know what formula they use to calculate the projectile’s range? The fuse of the 792 round lasts 6.2 seconds, and in standard air conditions it should reach at least 3 km, with a range between 2.5 and 4 km depending on air density
